View Full Version : Directv Never Heard of MovieWatch
I called Directv office of the president at 1-800-705-8790 and explained how I read on their web site news releases about Movie Watch channel coming to Directv Jan 21,2003. The representative said he never heard of this channel and Directv will never get it. oh well. No other new channels on the way either, although i would like to see more international channels, not spanish, but arabic. One of the best channels Directv carries is CCTV on channel 445 or News World international.

You would think that they would know what they are getting, especially since the moviewatch website made a big deal about all of that. and if this network did launch, i have not seen it
MovieWatch is now saying that they will launch sometime this year. They aren't giving a specific date on their WEB SITE (http://www.moviewatch.com).
I'd call the "Office of the President" back and politely suggest they are not very well informed. The announcement for this channel is still on their website (headline dated 7/17/02).
I did read on the Multichannel News website a few weeks ago that the launch was postponed until this summer.

Hey BobCA....remember that D* also conveniently forgot about the announcement that the NHL Channel would be added.....it too was listed on their sight as an announcement....this makes me think that something went goofy with the contracts and it will suffer the same fate.....I.E....no carriage on D* after all ala NHL Network

I sent an email to the network and just got this reply:
Thanks so much for your e-mail and your interest in MOVIEWATCH. As you can imagine, putting a new television network on the air is a very complicated and time consuming endeavor. While we didn't make our announced January, 2003 launch date, we do still plan for the network to hit the air by late summer, early fall of this year. Keep watching on DirecTV for information announcing the MOVIEWATCH launch.
Thanks again for your interest,
Bob Bedford

if they keep delaying their launch date, people will continually lose interest in the network, and then they will have an even harder time to stay alive.

DIRECTV didn't forget, it was the person on the phone who wasn't informed of the facts or based upon an outdated press release on a web site. That doesn't mean the company forgot.

I'd probably watch it, though I'd still rather have AmericanLife TV (used to be GoodLife)

Has the launch of any other network been delayed as long as Movie Watch? I found an archive of the MW website saying they were to launch in 2002:

Now it's 2005. I wonder if DirecTV is still obligated to carry the channel?
