Ok---quick story. Was watching the Cowboy--Giant game this afternoon until halftime. The family is getting hungry, so I decided to put the game on pause and take them out for dinner. Come home after dinner and my daughter decides to start the game and accidentily hits the active button. I finally get out of that screen---and low and behold----I lose my buffer. OK---yes, I probably shouldve recorded the game, but with the 90 minute buffer---I figured I would be back in plenty of time. Now my question is-----who is the idiot designer who put the active button near the pause button. This is the only button around the middle of the remote that makes you lose your buffer---AND ITS RIGHT UNDER IT. Does anyone know if there is a fix in the works for this problem or if there is a way to disable this useless button----which I believe---noone uses anyway.

I'm not aware of any way to disable just that button.
And some of us do actually use the Active features.

Whenever I have something paused and want to resume playing, I hit the 'Play' button, not 'Pause' again.
I know, not helpful. :(

The only way to be safe is to hit record. Its not like it costs anything.

No matter how you set up the remote, it's going to work for some and not for others.
My habit is never to pause for that length of time. If I'm stepping away for awhile I press Record so I know I'll have it later.
I guess it's all what you're used to.

it is completely free to hit the 'active' button. why don't you check it out?
but, in a nutshell: it is a painfully slow, sd channel of your local weather, lottery, etc.

DirecTV makes a Big Button Remote without the Active Button.Unfortunately it's missing alot of buttons for it's a basic IR remote with backlight. But for subscribers that want a remote that has bigger buttons and less features to mess with for some eliminates alot of problems it does a great job.;)
