View Full Version : What I heard in a Dish Network commercial
It was a radio commercial, so I couldn't rewind and listen to it again. I just picked up a few words at the end, so not 100% sure about this. It was a dish direct commercial, I think, and they said something like this:
"DirecTV claims they have true HD. They don't."
Anyone else hear this? What's it about? The only thing I can think of is the remaining MPEG2 that hasn't been converted to MPEG4. Has Dish Network maybe switched everything over, so they can claim they have better HD?
I think he meant "less HD" :D

Since "True HD" is not an ATSC-standard term, it can be defined any way they want.

they are attempting to push the 1080 P format, which is considered true HD. the sad fact however is that NO ONE has 1080P except for the 2 DVD formats.

How is Dish attempting to push the 1080P format? Thats a losing battle since only one of the two satellite companies has shown/demo'd/announced a 1080P tuner and it wasn't Dish...

this all started with another company (not sure who) trying to gain an advantage because D* does not support all HD formats. They neglected to say that No One supports all HD formats. It's been bantered around ever since and it totally stupid, but the average person gets suckered into believing that Company X is better than Company Y because Y is missing something, nevermind that X is as well
