I have an AT9 dish with 4 coxials out. I'm trying to find the multiswitch to see if it has more compaicty. It looks to me that the multiswitch is bulit into the main LNB, i'm not sure. So does anyone off hand know how many coaxials with this dish handle?

it has 4 outs, if you connect all 4 to a WB 6 X 8, you can get 8 outs, a 6 X 16 will give you 16 outs and etc.

Do I have to purchase it or does directv give it to me for free?

If you are getting an install, D* will supply what you need, if no install scheduled, you need to buy the switch

Would I need to get rid of the grounding block on the outside and run it directly to the multiswitch?

are you going to do the wiring?
if so, run four lines to a grounding block (buy one if you do not have a 4 connector block) and then 4 lines to the switch
run the lines from the switch inside to where needed

I will be doing the wiring and I have the grounding block outside already just wanted to know if need to get rid of it? I thought that having that many splices would hut the signal.

all lines must be grounded, better to ground 4 than to try to ground 8
