Wonder if this would work with existing connectors. That would be really sweet. Sounds like all the tech going on will be with the battery.

My only caveat is what would the recharge time be? lol Could you imagine charging your notebook for 30 hours?

I wouldn't mind having one of those :D

This sounds like it will be a couple of years before we see the general public prototypes. And nanowires are very expensive to create currently, so I would expect that they would need a serious market for this to take off where the price was right.

Could you imagine charging your notebook for 30 hours?Well, that would mean I wouldn't have to pay $129 bucks to get a new battery for my Apple PowerBook G4! What a rip! Told them I'd plug the thing in and when it finally died I'd buy a PC. The bad old days of Apple have returned.

I'll agree with your Apple observations. The very fact the a user can't replace batteries on his own is evidence of their "planned obsolescence" model designed to force existing device owners into buying "new" models every year or two. I fell for it and bought an iPod Touch. Its battery is also going to fail eventually, and fixing it will cost $149 or more at Apple. My guess is that the MSRP for a new model will be close to that when it happens.

The Touch isn't listed yet, but it's just a matter of time (considering they list iPhone parts).

Sounds like a great idea. When combined with solar panels on the laptop and a solid state hard drive, imagine going a week without charging!
