My current router has become too small. It only has 4 ports, and I currently need 5 (May need even more in the future). I do NOT want to go wireless. What I'd like to do is run 1 cable out of the router and into another device with more then 4 outputs. Would this be a switch or a full blown router? All ports need to have internet access.

You would want a switch. A router is for routing information between different networks. While most have switches built in, it would be overkill for what you are looking to do.

Yes you want a network switch. I have a 24 port D-Link connected to my 4 port Linksys wireless router.
Take a look at the link in my signature.
It is a very common, standard configuration to have the router such as a Cisco / Linksys providing DHCP, routing, NAT and firewall services connected up stream to a DSL or cable modem and down stream to the uplink port of an Ethernet switch.
