Lindsey would be a 900 number for some posters here. Telling them what they want to hear and they can enjoy it even if it isn't true.

First time I've heard of the "DLB Software" released for the HRXX. I agree w/ PoinNarf. :D

Well, it would be software. The hardware is already there.
But it is still nonsense, unless Earl has been holding out on us. ;)

Which one of those is DLB? The closest is
Keep Live-TV Review Buffer with ability to pause Live-TV when switching between Playback.
which just makes one of the work arounds a tad easier.

I think if DLB EVER was added, you first clue would be that this server would be so busy that you couldn't log on the site.

Keep Live-TV Review Buffer with ability to pause Live-TV when switching between Playback. was the exact wording she said.. but I asked if that meant i could pause both tuners and she thought yes..
on the sw release date she did mention a 1/9 for the hr20 but a new sw coming for the hr21 pending.

I think there's some disconnect between what the CSR is saying and what is really happening. There is a discussion thread for Dual Buffers already in the HR20 forum.

That, or it could be that the CSR is one of many who doesn't know what the term "Dual Live Buffers" refers to - I'd say there are many out there who fit that description, including some TIVO users I know. They know the HR2x has 2 tuners and that it buffers live TV and the software notes say there is an update to fix the buffer.

May be it, the difference between "Dual buffers" and "Dual LIVE Buffers", and what we all really crave there (Except Jeremy)

Earl, does this mean we can FINALLY share that DLB back door search phase with the forum?
BTW - I also have some ocean front property I'm looking to sell off in Arizona, if you are interested.

The update to the SINGLE live buffer is very nice. While not quite "true" DLB, it is much closer than it was. For me, it solves 80-90% of my problems with the lack of DLB. You now only need to record one program, and can switch between them with the PREV button. It will also now hold the pause point on the buffering tuner. While the "final step" would be nice, I am very nearly satisfied with this update.
To reply to the OP, the CSR is just a little bit confused on this update. Her comments on the AM21 *may* be close to accurate, however. We'll see.

It sounds like the CSR read the software release notes verbatim. Then the OP asked if that equated to DLB.
I do not get the impression that the CSR volunteered DLB as being available, just responded with actual documentation. If that is the case, this CSR should be patted on the back. Responding by reading published documentation is rarely a bad idea.

National releases are pushed. The CE test software would be found over in the CE forum.
If you wanted to force a download: reset the receiver and at the "hello" screen press 0 2 4 6 8.

Any idea why a CSR is reading CE Release Notes to customers?
Too Funny!!!
Sorry, but I couldn't help pointing out the irony of this.

That scares me. I'm just going to wait until they send it to me. Also, my box is not hooked up to a phone line or internet so I really don't want to screw it up.

Everyone's scared the first time, but I promise, we'll be gentle (well, some of us will be gentle)
join us......joins us.........
Check out the CE forums, I don't think anyone has bricked theirs in a long time (why do I feel like I'm going to regret saying that....)
