View Full Version : New Customer Specials
I don't have DISH yet.
Would it be better to sign up now with the current specials or should I wait until next month? I saw a post somewhere that the Feb 2008 special was going to be really good, but no specifics.
I plan on getting DVR and HD if that matters.
Thanks

Funny how Dish is copying all the same deals as DIRECTV with the 24 month commitment and the new $10.00 essentials hd pack. Now if they could just copy their hd offerings.
Holy Rumor-Mill, Batman!Sorry but it isn't rumor it is in the dealer facts blast.:) But I was wrong on the poster it was Texsatgirl.
So the new specials are just HD packages?
Looks like I should purchase before Feb.?

Wow...is the 3 months free spread out really the best deal I can get right now?? D* looks like a better option (just from a cost standpoint) for my sister

Yes, they did kinda of rook on on the new special but, you must consider that D* wants 99 dollars for a HD DVR that will only service one TV. E* will give it to you for free. With D* you would need 2 receivers to do what one will do with E*. If you wanted the same thing with D* it would cost 198 dollars upfront because you only get the 100 dollar discount on one box.

The H20/21 is $99 with instant $100 credit so "FREE" and a basic receiver is free two free boxes is not $198 but is "FREE" after instant rebate.:) :) :)
boba - I believe you are the one with bad math skills. The Directv website says the HDDVR is $199 with $100 instant rebate making its final cost $99. Not only is it inferior to the Dish receivers, it is also $99 while the Dish HDDVR is free.
Dish is not that far behind in HD offerings and they will most likely catch up within the next few months. However, they are way ahead in dvr reciever technology and it would certainly pay an individual to choose carefully according to his/her needs and desires. Directv's lead in HD is likely to be short lived but their inferior receivers (when compared to Dish) may be a consideration for a long time
I have made this comment elsewhere, but I feel that Dish is banking big time on their DVRs. CES seemed to be all about their DVRs.
"Better than T***"
"Best DVR out there"
bla bla bla
I feel that they are hoping that their DVRs can keep them afloat until they get another bird or two up ...

Just rechecked my self on the D* website boba, if you want one HD DVR and one SD DVR which is what you would need to replace the 722 receiver would cost you 198 dollars out of pocket according to D* your math is wrong.
