I have the HR20-700 and recently got VOD working by getting online via the ethernet port. One odd this I noticed is that I can record two programs at the same time even though I only have one connection to the dish. Is this related to the ethernet connection? Has Directv provided dual recording via single dish connection? I discovered this when I was watching and recording a show and accidentally changed the channel. The box did not provide any warning and proceeded to change the channel. When I changed back to my original programming, and looked on my list of recorded programming, it showed that no parts were cut out. So I proceeded to record two programs simultaneously and it also works!

I know this sounds crazy, but can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

The ethernet connection only works for VOD content that is delivered via the internet, it has nothing to do with the ability to watch television via the satellite.

Unless you have an SWM module, you shouldn't be able to tune 2 shows at the same time from the satellite. Not sure how the unit could accomplish this without the SWM.

Depending on the combination of transponders, satellites and LNBs used for both programs it can be possible to get two programs off a single line. It's tricky and unpredictable.

Do you just have one line period or do you have one satellite line and an OTA line?
