Soo....today we went to Ultimate Electronics and dropped way too much money for a nice surround sound system.

Got everything connected, working AWESOME!!

Problem - DIRECTV RC64R does not program to the AV receiver. Wonderful - while I have no problem using the other remote, there are others in the house who would like to just be able to turn on the surround sound and TV and be set.

Any suggestions? Every code for the Yamaha does not work from the online manual.

This is a silly, silly question...

Have you tried code scan? Option 2/3?

You will have to set up the A/V tuner under the AV1 position and use that position to turn it on and off. You can then(use the on-screen set up instructions)use the remote to control the volume with the remote in the D* position, I think they call it a pass through. The remote, once set up, will no longer control the volume on the TV. It works very nicely. That is D*'s newest remote, I would really be surprised if it did not control the volume. Seems a little complicated to set up, but the instructions are pretty clear. Have fun.

Its times like these I wish I could give everyone in the world a Harmony remote, especially for cases like these

If not mistaken the codes for the Yamahas one will turn off the reciever and another code will turn it on. One code will not do both.

I'm sure Edmund will be along to say eitherway.

None of the codes will turn it off - the remote for the surround sound itself does not even have a button to power it off - you have to press "Standby" which might be part of the problem. Tried all 10 codes and tried the scan with no luck.

I was hoping it would so I COULD use the volume lock, it would make things so much easier!

And I doubt I could convince my husband to spend any money on a remote other than the $30 for the RF and antenna.

To get the volume, use code 31076, the volume keys never work initially with any audio code, to the volume:

First there has to be tv code programmed to the tv device on the white remote or the volume keys won't work. It doesn't have to be your tv code, it can be any tv code. Then:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 3
4. press SELECT

You are awesome!!

Now it will be a little simpler for a family member to use the TV/Surround Sound because it will mainly be on the DIRECTV input, rather than the PS3.

The whole power thing in the instructions threw us off.

Thank you so much!!
