6000 Problem

Hello,

I've had my 6000 for almost 2 years now, haven't had any problems until recently. After a while of watching, could be anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours, the image on the screen will freeze and sometimes the receiver will reset itself. I've tried to find a pattern, but these problems are very random.

I tried using it with/without the 8VSB adapter but i get the same reset/freeze problem. they happen in both HD, and SD mode.

Since it's out of warranty there isn't much I can do but to buy another receiver, but HD isn't cheap, and dropping another $500 is out of the question, specially knowing other models will be released in the near future.

Can someone shed some light into these problems, maybe I'm missing something I could check. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you all in advance.

Hi Neo and welcome to DBSTalk! :hi:

My first advice to you is to get on the phone right now with Dish and order up the $1.99 a month extended warranty. This will cover all of your Dish equipment. Wait a month a call them to start troubleshooting your receiver. It sounds like your receiver may be going bad but you can't get it replaced for free unless you are under the extended warranty.

I suspect a over heat condition.
Make sure the vents are clean. Did you change its eviroment in some way lately?

It has been sitting on the same spot for almost 2 years, so I don't suspect heat being a problem. Haven't really changed anything around it.
