If Dish Network were to add a package of the HDNet channels, would you subscribe and how much would you be willing to pay?

Does it include locals? If not I wouldn't pay a dime. It shouldn't be any more than $10 IMO.

This is just a package of HDNet channels, similar to the HBO or Showtime packages.

I get HBO HD and Showtime HD for free, the networks for FREE. Why do you expect us to pay for additonal HD channels. As all channels sooner or later become HD, why should they be premium channels. You are only letting the HD people know that you expect to pay more. You expect it and you will get it. I will NOT pay for anymore HD channels and everyone should vote NO on this poll.

I can understand free locals, free hbo/showtime (as you have to subscribed to HBO & Showtime), but HDNets 3 or 4 channels are new premium channels. Why do you think they should be free?

You are not getting HBO & Showtime HD for free. You are paying for both premium packages & they aren't charging extra for the HD feeds. If you don't understand this, call up & unsubscribe HBO & Showtime. Tell them you just want the "free" HD feeds.
Your local networks are commercially supported & PBS is supported by subscribers, grants & govt. That's why you don't pay for them.
All channels will not sooner or later become HD. You need to do a little more homework on Digital TV & ATSC.
HDNet is a company run by Marc Cuban. Right now he's not charging for the single feed he gives DirecTv in order to help build awareness & demand for HD content. But he's not going to give it away forever (even he is not that rich).
He is turning it into a 3 channel subscription package and those that want it will have to pay for it. That's how business works in a capitalist society, jerryez.:money:

Actually, HDNet is well worth any price. I still can't belive Dish doesn't have it. I watch it all the time.

Didn't Charlie say that they were in negotiations with them on a Charlie Chat? I cannot remember if he said that or not.

He did indeed.
My prediction for the HDNet Pack: $12.99
Same as HBO The Works. Similar economics. E* keeps $3-4 for their end (uplink, transponder b/w, billing, etc.) Cuban gets $9-10 per sub.
I voted $10-15 'cus I think it's the likely price & that's what I'd pay.
Probably will be in free prevue for a week or 2. Mebbe there'll be another deal for those w/o 8PSK modules; i.e. free w/annual sub, etc.

I just wish Dish would offer the other network HD feeds for those of us in grey areas....

If it had movies without commercials then it would be worth it seeing it would be in HD format. HD is going to be a premium for a while until it becomes the norm.

When you watch a Hockey game in HD, you'll feel good about it. I can't wait until Baseball!!!!
I would probably not pay for HD net. I can get HD programming from ABC, CBS, and soon PBS here for free now. I assume NBC will follow shortly. (Fox doesn't seem to be embrasing HD) However, if a few channels that I already watch alot were to be available thru HD net I would at least reconsider.

Have you seen HDNet? I watch about 80% of my HD viewing on that channel.
That anyone who can afford an HD TV and associated electronics should quibble over the price of an all-HD package amazes me.
It's like the man at the yacht dealership asking the price of a particular model. The uppity salesman replies: "Sir, if one must ask the price, then one probably cahn't afford a yacht in the first place."

Yes, that is what I think. If you can afford to shell out like $1,500-$3500 + for a HD tv plus another $500 or whatever the HD receivers cost for one of those then you should be able to afford a small monthly fee.
I would like to see each HD channel /package priced at 4.99 with discounts when subscribing to multiple packages.
If they carry ESPN, HDNET, Discovery & Bravo , you could have a nice HD package for under $20.
You better throw in the Hallmark Plus HD channel.

I spent weeks researching a good TV and a good price for it. I spent more time finding a good deal on my receiver. I'm not about to start throwing around my money because I have to earn it the hard way. So I don't think there is anything wrong with a little scrutiny of potential pricing at this stage.
