When I watch ABC OTA from an 8VSB, the show itself generally looks fine, but any inserted graphics or text, the credits for example looks funny.

Is that the way it is, or is there some sort of settings that can compensate for this effect. I assume that it has something to do with the upconvert from 720P to 1080i in the receiver...

thanks for any feedback...

Can you define "funny" a little more specifically?

Mark... The text and graphics look like they have jaggy edges.

Ok, I can't remember ever seeing any graphics or credit text sent in HD from my ABC affiliate, so part of the issue may be that you're seeing a SD upconvert and that's why it doesn't look "right". Or, you may have the same 6000 bug that a lot of us have with 720p signals. To fix it, go into the HD setup in the menu on your 6000 - Menu,6,1,9 (I believe is where it is) and slightly adjust the horizontal position of your picture back and forth a couple of button presses and see if that helps.

Thanks Mark, I'll give it a try. I had heard about that issue. Though I was not sure of the exact symptoms.

To try and describe what I see a little more, a letter looks like it has a Z stair step around text. Instead of smooth and crisp, like the text you are probably seeing on your computer as you read this message. This does not happen on other channels at 1080i, only on ABC. I'll have to see if that adjustment will correct the condition..

I am also having a picture problem with my 6000 and/or tv. It sounds like it could be similar to normang's problem. When watching HD on ABC, there are little "hairs" coming from the edge of objects and and especially text. It seems to have improved since I received the 6000 and tv but it is still there. I suspect I used the horizontal postioning mode and didn't realize that I improved it. If this is the cause, I will fix it tonight when ABC does HD. Can this be the cause?

EDIT: I was able to fix my problem by adjusting the screen like Mark had said. The more I have had this tv with HD, the more I like it. :D
