All indications is that DoD will not be made available on the SD-DVRs
Well... I dont beleive the R15 has an RJ45 (Network) jack, nor the R16.
So, as Earl stated, all indications point to it not being available.
However, similar to the using the USB ability of the HR21 in order to use the AM21, DirecTV may come up with a USB Network dongle, if they so choose.
IMHO, I think they're trying to push everyone towards HD... So DoD will just be one more feature that'll convert more customers to HD.

That stinks as I do not have an HD TV and nor do i have the money to get one. I( have been avoiding getting the HD receiver because i will not pay the HD Fee with no reason to use the service.

I don't have and HDTV but I just signed up with D* and requested an HD DVR and got the HR20. You can still see HD channels on an SD set which means you will get channels you would not otherwise get (like my favorite, MGM HD). Also DOD would be available to you.

But don't you have to pay the HD Access fee if you have an HD rcvr? So the question becomes are "the channels you would not otherwise get" and DoD worth the $9.99/mo.

I have an HR20 hooked up to my 15" Magnavox Monitor via S-Video. Its not HD, its "Enhanced Def", I enjoy it.
Most here will confirm that the HD channels look better than the SD channels, even on a SD TV.

I will agree with that last statement, CJTE... HD channels on an SDTV look quite satisfying.

Well I'm getting the HD access free for a year. But when I do have to pay for it, I'll still keep it. Even though you are not getting HD on as SD set, the HD channels look like HD compared to the SD counterparts. Also, in many cases, you will get a 5.1 audio track when you would otherwise get only two channel PCM.
