Hi Fellow Zune Owner!

I have started my quest for DVD content on my Zune. I am curious what everyone uses to convert their DVDs to a useable format. I have use a couple but am not impressed. What have you tried and used? What works? Do you have a process/procedure you use?

I have a 80 GB Zune, in case that matters (does it?).

For me, I'll generally use a stand alone DVD decrypter and then encode afterwards with a separate program (there are many, most of them work more or less the same). As long as they're encoded in WMV, MP4, or M4V they'll run just fine. I'll encode the 2.0 audio with the video if it's going to be used on the Zune.

What is it that you're not impressed with about the software you have? The end result, or just the fact that it takes forever to decrypt and then encode? If it's the latter that bothers you, that's one of the necessary evils of video transcoding from MPEG2 to MPEG4/WMV. It takes quite awhile.

I was in a Staples store and picked up some cheap software called something like 123dvd2ipod. It converts any DVD I stick in my PC to a file that works in my iPod Touch. I also bough a Zune 80, and was delighted to see that those videos would also play on the Zune. Cheap software. <$30.

Dude, we need to sit a spell and chat. I am off in lala land tonight (BWI Hilton) and won't be home until tomorrow. I will have to spell the pooch out a bit, I found some good software, but I am retarded on using it.

I know I can do it better, I just need to focus.

I'll post something substantial about this tomorrow night.

I checked, and the software I use is 123movies2ipod. So far every DVD I've tried has worked fine and the results play both on an iPod Touch and a Zune 80gb player.

I found Wondershare, which isn't free. I got their Platinum package. It does a lot of stuff, which I want to do, like making my DVD collection part of our media library, which I can do now.

Xilisoft (www.xilisoft.com). Works for everything. Not free but worth every penny.
