video stream question, video ok, no sound

i have ripped my dvd library for playback on my 360 which works fine from mce. straight rip, basically take off vob container and merging to 1 mpeg2 file, audio is ac3 5.1.
hr-20 plays video fine but not getting any sound. i am passing through to receiver through the optical cable.

anyone else running into this or know if this is jus a limitation?

It seems to be related to how you rip the file. I have used MPEG Streamclip with the "convert to TS" option and it seems to reliably handle both the video and audio. There are some threads in the "Cutting Edge" forum which you may find helpful.
