I used to have the R15 and I was able to record off of the XM channels. Some channels have programs that I like to listen to but can't at the time they air. So I used to DVR them on the R15. But now I have an HR20 100 and cannot record anything off of the XM channels. Why? When did this happen and is there a way around it?

yes, it a pity we cannot record XM music on the HR-20-700 either.
Wonder if anyone knows if this will ever be possible?

I can not think on any excuse that can be given why the R15 can record them but the HD DVR (more advanced) can not.:nono2:

i think the reason has to do with the record companies and copyright issue of the music being copied. This isn't a new issue i believe you might want to do a search for it. Eventually the R15 will probably lose the ability to record too

Point taken BUT we already record ANY video content so why not audio content?
Where is the difference as to WHERE the content MIGHT end up?

We can already record directly from an XM or Sirius receiver anyway.
Just seems silly to me.
Oh well!!!

Ray652, you make an outstanding point. I wish we had the ability to record the XM channels. Regardless of the media, I like the ability to scan and watch or scan and listen to only what I want to listen to. Take care all.

Actually, I already have the ability to record the XM channels from my HR-20-700.
I use an external device from Turtle Beach Inc - it their Audio Avantage SRM module....well under $100 if I remember correctly.
It has many functions and I/O which includes optical (SPDIF) input and output.
It connects to my PC via USB.
Using Nero, I can record, edit and burn whatever I want.
