I will be getting the Sony SVR3000 hooked up Tuesday. This is the DirectTV/with Tivo and has two receivers. I have an antenna for the local channels. Can Tivo record my local channels when the source is not from the satellite?

If you want to record your OTA channels, you need to get a Standalone Tivo. The DirecTivo's have no mpeg encoder built into them - all they can record is what comes in via satellite.

I don't know about the SVR3000, but I've had the SVR2000 for two years now. It is a stand alone Tivo with an off air tuner, so I've never had any problem with receiving both the satellite input and the ota antenna input.

Hope this helps.

I believe the SVR3000 is the second gen standalone tivo, the SAT-T60 is the first gen DirecTivo. The SVR3000 would be able to record ota but the T60 would not.

Thanks Larry. I think I might want to stay with Dish and add the local channels. Thanks again for your help.

As has been mentioned, the SVR3000 is a standalone, not a DIRECTV DVR. As a result, it can record any signal (antenna, cable, or satellite), but it can only record one show at a time unlike the combo receivers.
