Of corse it is. Why would Fox haul in SD cameras when they need HD for all of speedweek. ;)

You can still create a SD show with HD cameras. Look how long they did for Letterman. Just mentioned it since some folks thought it would be in SD until speedweek starts at Daytona.

Fox in Seattle chose to show the usual Saturday morning cartoons instead of the first hour of the 24 from Daytona. Coverage for me started with the fellas from Speed.

If only the ALMS cars were in the series. Much like American Open Wheel racing, the schism in road racing has damaged the sport. But that is a different discussion.

The racing season is back. It has been a long winter.

BopMan,

Negative. I believe that D* has exclusive rights to SpeedHD for a period of time, I think until after the start of the Winston Cup season. Until that point, neither E* or any of the cable channels will have SpeedHD.

Be grateful; the Fox affiliate in Denver chose to show infomercials instead of any of the Rolex race. :(

I figure in a couple of more years, RJR will come back as a sponsor, Darlington will be the Labor Day weekend race, and everyone will be cheating. Oh wait, everybody is still cheating.

A bit more then a couple. The Nextel/Sprint contract runs through 2013 :)

It's funny how Sprint had plans in place so they could change their name when they took over NASCAR via Nextel, before the Nextel/Sprint merger/takeover was public. Yet, they rag on RCR about needing to uphold his contract with ATT. And then there is Jack Roush having Homezone sponsorship on his cars. ATT needs to make up their mind what camp they are in.

In GT5 Prologue on the Daytona track, the scoring tower has a NEXTEL sign on the top ;)

I can't wait until the season gets back in full swing. So I can Crank It Up!!!!!

Isn't HD awesome!

Don't forget the real fist fights and the leader 4 laps ahead of the rest of the field at Daytona! :D

I'm OK with that. Better than the "debris" caution to create a green, white, checker finish.

When FOX broadcast Formula One last year the picture was PAL 540p wide screen, but the audio was DD!

Rolex on FOX in Tampa Bay was 4:3 SD video and audio. Bummer.
