It seems with this DTV install, it's got me going through my video rig again....and it's been awhile since I've touch this stuff.

For all you installers out there, are you using compression for everything.

Personally, for me I use my Cable Prep tools and SNS connectors for everything from the headend back to my demarc. Anything beyond that, it's all Canare for me. A little bit more effort and labor on my end, but hell, I'm just a avid Diy'er so time is not costing me $$$.

I don't have any fancy tools to measure if the canare's make a difference.
Seems like most of the cable shops around me prefer the digicons.

I have not done a whole comparison between the different brands of compression connectors as I have a whole slew of SNS connectors - RG6, RG6QS, RG11 and even some of their double ended compression couplers.

Once you do a few compression fittings you'll never want to do anything else.. They are just so easy and come out prefect every time...

Well..actually,
I like many things about the compression fittings. They tend to attach to the cable better and are neater looking.

However..........if (when) you are working in the dark it is easy to compress the center electrode and not know it. With some you can compress beyond the end ring and screw up the fitting, requiring another fitting be used.
The waterproofing system is not as good as the F connector with O ring & gel. The compression tool is expensive regardless of the style fitting you buy and many are not interchangeable with many others.
Finally, the compression fittings are around $.25 each and the
F connector with gel is around $.09 each.

Why not support China....the HSPs are sending their (our) money to India, Costa Rica & the Philippines for call centers.......Where is your fitting being made?
