Yes it is in HD. The NY market receives it in their base package. If you are not in the NY market you have to have the Fox sports package to receive it.

YES is in HD in the NY market. If you have the sports pack you also get it.

Depending on where in PA the OP is, that may not be the case -- Here in Northeastern PA (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre), YES is one of our local RSNs and no additional package is required to receive it, except, of course, HD Access.
Okay i am in PA, so in order to get YES i need that 12 dollar sports package and does that include just SD yes or HD as well??
hilmar2K need some Yankees vs boston tix at fenway :)

Amazingly enough, you can get a definite answer by going to http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=3290001 and typing in your zip code.
This will tell you what you get without Sports Pack, and what you will get by adding the sports pack..

Outside the YES market area, if you want to see the Yankees or Nets, you have to have MLB Extra Innings or the NBA League Pass.
This is what i got
Mid Atlantic Sports Network (Ch. 626)
# Baltimore Orioles (HD Available)
# Washington Nationals (HD Available)
So wait if your not in the YES market area you dont get the YES channel then why would they offer it in the package?? that makes no sense???

You get the non-game programming with the Sports Pack. The games are blacked out out-of-market unless you have the MLB Extra Innings package.
SO i guess no point in me getting DTV if i can just order MLB with comcast!

SO i guess no point in me getting DTV if i can just order MLB with comcast!DIRECTV currently offers close to 100 HD channels, so if you're looking for HD and don't want to wait ...

I'm guessing the OP is down near York or that area, near the MD border. Up here I get:
With any DIRECTV base package (CHOICE or above):
Madison Square Garden (Ch. 621)
# New Jersey Devils (HD Available)
# New York Islanders (HD Available)
# New York Knicks (HD Available)
# New York Knicks (HD Available)
# New York Liberty
# New York Rangers (HD Available)
# New York Red Bulls
# New York Red Bulls
Yankee Ent. & Sports (YES) (Ch. 622) - HD Available
# New Jersey Nets (HD Available)
# New York Yankees (HD Available)
FSN New York (Ch. 624)
# New York Knicks (HD Available)
# New York Rangers (HD Available)
# New York Rangers (HD Available)
# New York Red Bulls
# New York Red Bulls
SportsNet New York (Ch. 625) - HD Available
# New York Mets (HD Available)
as well as:
" With the Premier package or any DIRECTV base package plus SPORTS Pack, you also get:"
FSN Pittsburgh (Ch. 628)
# Pittsburgh Penguins (HD Available)
# Pittsburgh Pirates (HD Available)
I'd guess they would atleast get FSN Pittsburgh with Sports Pack, as I'm about 5 hours from Pittsburgh, clear across the state -- Perhaps his sports pack options would include the NY channels as well?
I guess we wouldn't know without his zip code though.
zip code 19540
i already checked and posted what comes up!
For the 100 dollar package they mislead you to think you will get the YES channel!

I don't believe DirecTV told you at any point you would get it, hence why you asked here.
You're in a bad spot, and without having CSN Philly, you get pretty much nothing.
However, You're more than likely in the same boat with cable, fios, etc.
Happy Hunting, but MLB EI is going to be your option to see Yankees games -- Hopefully you get it somewhere. I'm a Yankee fan too, and that's why Dish wasn't even an option when I switched from cable, as YES is a local RSN for me, but Dish doesn't even offer it.

Man, that's messed up. I live in Binghamton (Upstate NY, about 3 hours from NYC) and I only get the following:
Madison Square Garden (Ch. 621)
# Buffalo Sabers (HD Available)
# New York Islanders (HD Available)
# New York Knicks (HD Available)
# New York Rangers (HD Available)
# New York Red Bulls
FSN New York (Ch. 624)
# New York Knicks (HD Available)
# New York Rangers (HD Available)
# New York Red Bulls
SportsNet New York (Ch. 625) - HD Available
# New York Mets (HD Available)
To make matters worse, I put in the zip code to my alma mater, Ithaca College, and they get YES HD included as a regional along with the SportsNet Ohio (or something like that) channel. Ithaca is an hour northwest of Binghamton too.

That doesn't seem right. If you are in the Mets area, then you should be in the Yankees area too.
I know D* has been making some changes/updates to that lookup, maybe YES got knocked out for you by accident?

As would the OP if he got the Sports pack. But what he won't get, nor do any of you, are the Yankee games. They are blacked out out-of-market without MLB EI. That is the essence of this thread, had you read it all.
