View Full Version : Wish List Items for To Do: Info and Mark&Delete

I'm less concerned about the ease of reaching the To Do function than its quality once I've arrived.
I, like countless others, visit the To Do list periodically to cull the deadwood produced by overly broad keyword searches, mis-marked repeats, and my wife's questionable judgment;) .
Culling this list is, alas, tedious because:
1. The program Info associated with the highlighted list entry is not displayed. Instead, the screen area (used elsewhere for Info) currently shows the fatuous message "Press SELECT on a title to view more info."
2. There's no Mark&Delete option. The current software for the HR20-100 now implements Mark&Delete nicely on the Play List, so it shouldn't be too tough to port it onto the To Do list.
Anyone second the motion?
I would second both of those suggestions.
I would also point out that Mark and Delete has always been a playlist option in every software version. It was in the context sensitive menu push when in list previously. I think more people will be finding more features now that they are consistently under the Yellow options button.

"Show the highlighted program's description in the "To Do List" and "History", instead of a static message" is already on the Wish List. If you haven't already voted for it, you can do so here (http://www.sizethis.com/index.php?module=survey&survey=28).
Regarding your second request, you're probably not aware that simply hitting the "STOP" button when a TODO LIST episode is highlighted will remove it from the list and prevent it from being recorded. I believe "--" does it as well. :)

Anyone second the motion?I've been a long proponent of #1, and although I wouldn't object to DIRECTV implementing Mark & Delete for the To Do List, I would never use it. I find the undocumented trick of pressing STOP on each undesired program to be a very fast way to achieve the same result M&D would. :)
This may be the wrong place to post this..I miss the audio feedback that the TiVo's have when you do trick play..anyone else?

Yes, you are absolutely correct, this was the wrong thread to post this:lol:
But I hope you get over the loss of bwupp-bwupp
2. There's no Mark&Delete option. The current software for the HR20-100 now implements Mark&Delete nicely on the Play List...One last comment on the current implementation of Mark & Delete. It could be better, IMO.
When you're in the left column running and up and down the list ticking off episodes to delete, you are not shown the program INFO for that episode. Instead, you need to right-arrow over to the episode column to be sure it's the one you want to get rid of and then left-arrow back to check it off.
As originally pointed out by TigerDriver, the checkbox and the episode title should be treated as one virtual entity, so as you move down the checkbox column, the episode descriptions display and change in sync.
Just my .02. /steve

Yes, I am aware of the Stop button, but I try not to rely on undocumented features because they (a) are not supported, and (b) usually disappear over time.
Besides, undocumented shortcuts and features might be sufficient for power users, but are not useful to the broad base of users who don't (as many of us here apparently do) obsess over this stuff and who are willing to commit arcane procedures to memory.
I use the aforementioned wife as my canary-in-the-mine: if she can't accomplish a task without asking me for instruction, the UI (by my definition, at least), needs work. For example, she schedules reruns of all the Law&Order shows, then triages them after recording, but confesses she would prefer to triage them at the To Do list if it had the same interface as the PlayList.
Steve, in the current national release (0X1EA):
1. '--' doesn't work on the ToDo list
2. The problems with maintaining focus on the M&D list are fixed
P.S. Does anybody know the purpose/benefit of numbering releases in hexadecimal? I propose that they be changed immediately to octal  .

I hated those beeps. My son has been using a series 2 and I could hear them going on all evening. I got him an HR21 just to get rid of the noise and he doesn't even have an HDTV. I would have no objection to them being an option though.

STOP has been there since I first got my HR20's almost a year ago, so I doubt it's going anywhere. Works in the GUIDE as well. The HR20 documenation is woefully inadequate, so I wouldn't assume STOP is a potentially transient feature.
If you're having no problems with M&D focus in the NR, then they may have changed it in the latest CE, because I lose the program description when focus is in the left column. Could you please double-check this? TIA.

I don't believe -- ever worked to delete an item from ToDo.

You're right. I must have been off my meds.
