I am trying to connect to my Windows Vista PC to my HR-20 via media share and I am stuck. I am using a D-Link DWL-G820 network adapter and my wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G. I used the setup via my HR20 and everything is good expect when it tries to connect to the internet. I get a error message (22)...can anyone please shed some light on my problem? Thanks
Are you using a static IP or DHCP on the HR20? I found that when using DHCP (I was just using the defaults to start with), it had issues with DNS via the router (and thus the error 22). So I changed it to static IP (as I was going to do anyway) and manually entered the DNS, it worked fine ever since.

I can do vod and pass the network test but I cant see my media using tversity. someone says that the menu option might appear later but that is too silly. it should appear immediately after restarting the receiver and the pc with proper settings.

Did you give the TVersity program access through your Windows Firewall? Also make sure you open the port that TVersity uses. Mine is port 41952, which was the default when I installed TVersity.

I am having the same problem and feel as though I have tried everything suggested in many of the threads (e.g. turning off the firewall, opening port 41952, rebooting the pc and HR20, etc.). VOD works and my HR20-100 says I'm connected to the internet, but there is no menu option for my music and pictures. My laptop with a wireless card sees my router and tversity and works just fine, but the HR20 doesn't show my media. I tried WMP 11 and it would never show "unknown device." I'm totally perplexed at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you done what is necessary on the Vista Machine to make it possible for the DVR to see the files? The HR20- is only half the job. You have to tell Vista and WMP11 that the HR20 is allowed access.

In addition to opening the port, as previously mentioned, you'll have to tell the Windows Firewall that the TVersity app can take incoming connections - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842242 (see the Exceptions tab). Of course that's assuming you're using Windows Firewall, and not a 3rd party software firewall.

I had a similar situation to you. I felt like I had tried absolutely everything in the book. What ended up fixing it (I think) was updating my adapter's software. In my case, it was a Buffalo but you might check and see if D-Link has an available update. Good luck.
