Hello all, I'm guessing this has been discussed here before but I having trouble finding a "idoits" guide to setting my OTA after getting my 5 LNB dish with a diplexer.
When the installer came out he said the OTA wouldn't work with the new dish. So he left unplugged and i was fine with it for a while. But with the SB coming close and no locals in my area (through D*TV), I would like ot re-hook it up.

Is there a simple guide to to help set up the OTA wit hmy setup? Is it even possible to do?

I have HR20-700 and an old SD tivo D*Tv dvr. Both with two lines going to them.

Thank you all in advance!

Joaquin

Thanks for the info (That was FAST!! :eek2: ), that is very detailed but for my dumas I not sure how to read the diagram. Is there any kind of guide with images and text?

Very Interesting.

When I had a technician come out for an HR-2X install last week, and I wanted to diplex the same way, for the same reason, he told me that the new dish “did not allow diplexing.”:confused: He claimed that a separate line would have to be run to the DVRs and that he would not do it as part of the installation. Since he would also not agree to relocate my HR10-250 and add a second satellite line (which DirecTV agreed to do and had it in their work order), we decided to postpone the install for a later date (now February 25th) until this was straightened out.

Also, my existing dish is very securely mounted to a masonry chimney. The technician claimed that the new dish was much too large to be mounted to the chimney and had to be attached to the roof. Does this make any sense? With windy Chicago winters, I'd feel more secure with it attached to the chimney...

Dish --> BBC --> Diplexer --> diplexer --> receiver
or
Dish --> multi-switch --> BBC --> diplexer --> diplexer --> receiver

So my BBC's (I think I have two) are inside right now will it matter if I put it outside? And the OTA antenna goes right after the dish?

You would only need to diplex one coax, but the BBC IS NOT made [or weather proofed] to be mounted outside.
