It means they will continue to support existing hardware, but there won't be any new hardware capable of decoding mpeg-4 streams.

An MPEG-4 DirecTivo is NOT happening. And even on the off chance they were to move from the current Directv platform, they'd go with Replay TV since they just bought it.
There is an HD TiVo right now though. It is just for Cable and OTA and not satellite.

Also something about patents isn't there, and that Tivo won't sue Directv (To an extent)?

I wish. There are still things I like about my DTivo better than the HR20. :(

Not true - I've had a DirecTV HD-Tivo for about 2 years. Granted it's MPEG-2...

I'd have to check with Carl Spock, but was discussion of an MPEG4 HD TiVo up on the calendar again already??? :D

True, you have me there. I have had one since the preorder so I should know. I figured the OP knew about that and was wnating somethign newer.
Can't imagine why anyone would want an MPEG4 Tivo. The only thing the HR10has going for it is dual live buffers. From any other aspect, the HR20/21 is vastly superior.
