Looking at the Belden 1841AC . I plan to run 3 pairs down into my demarc. 2 Pairs for DTV. 3rd pair would be for OTA and also my cable modem.
Between the 1841AC and the Perfect Cable, I'm going to say the jacket on the belden will proabably withstand the Northeast elements a bit better.
Is there any other dual RG6 exterior grade cable I should be looking at. Commscope is just the same for me..I need to mailorder this stuff.
Local supply shops generally does NOT stock the good stuff like Belden/Commscope and I plan to give my rep over at Accu-Tech a call.

I wish i knew why customers always ask me that, rubber is rubber, but the more important consideration is whether you're using compression fittings and wrench tightening them, if you are then you're good to go for decades to come
I wish I knew why techs cranked down the coax connections, then the customer has to try and remove it when they're troubleshooting for searching for satellite signal... WTF?
Hand-tightening'll do boys, really. They end up locking into position after a few weeks anyway.

No personal offense to you John-MAVA. I meant that in general

Rubber is not just rubber however.
I run summer tires in the warmer climates and dec-early march, winter tires are on.
Regardless, the compound of the softer rubber makes it not only Safer for me but everyone else on the roads.....
If a coax has a CL rating, should I use it since it's rubber and RG6 100% whole copper conductor with at least a dual braid shielding. The point is that rubber is not just rubber

hmm maybe for tires, but I've never ever seen a wire go bad mid wire without being cut or bend or scraped somehow, and we live in a subtropical climate where weather damage is quick and severe

Check out bluejeanscable.com for ideas. They sell Belden, have great prices, great customer service, and good articles for how to choose the right cable. They will also do custom lengths if you know that in advance.

Because they don't want to be back.. changes in temps can loosen/tighten the connections.. If the average coustomer can unscrew them by hand they aren't tight..

Just to let you know for future reference, cable buried underground can be damaged by nearby lightning strikes. Just ran into a situation lately.

What did you finally end up going with? Looks like the belden 1694a is the best for sat and rated even better than quad shield and easy connection fitting (wish they had dual cable though). Most cables seem to be copper clad steel. Damn it is hard to find solid bare copper RG6 dual cables. The guy who installed my dish used a crappy version of perfect vision cable which is copper clad.:eek2:

On outdoor connectors wrench tightening is required. Not at the IRD but outside it is a must.

1694 is great cable. OVERkil for bringing in video from the headend if not overkill for inside video distribution.
I ended up with the 1841ac.
1694 is broadcast quality and I ran than when I did prewiring for video/digital coax audio. Good stuff but it's a waste of $$ for DBS video...
I also scored 2 reels of some SWEET dual bonded 3 ghz burial rated Belden coax.
Belden doesn't even make this spec combo - it was from a batch of *special ordered* custom made batch from belden.

1841ac looks good being 2 cables. Where did you buy the belden 1841ac (how much)? Seems like most places only have it in 500 or a 1000ft, where I only need 100ft.:eek2:

Yeah Belden is awesome cable. The specs are up their 2. I bought 2 rolls of 1000 feet and went to town in my house:D .

I prefer any black cable as it withstands elements better than white. White has a tendency to crack over time.

Right uv protection on black rarely on white.
The best cable is Belden 7916A
The lowest cost source is Tri-State Electronic.

I recommend that you buy a 500' or a 1000' box.
It will allow you to take care of you and all of your family and friends needs for many years and you will be a hero.
If you want your underground cable run to be closer to perfect, put it in PVC conduit.
Learn it, know it, believe it, do it.
