View Full Version : Horrible HD Signal for Over a Month

They recently added HD Local to Albany, NY area and ever since I've had some horrible HD Quality for any HD program going over the normal Dish. I still have my off-air antenna and get excellent quality using it.

The problem is shows skip alot, get all jumpled up. I record shows on the DVR and every show has issues, many of them I even lose 5, 10, 15 minutes of the show due to this.

Now, I can watch local stations over my Off-Air antenna, but now ESPN, NHL Center Ice and other non-local HD stations are crap always skipping. I find myself turning on normal digital channels just to alleviate the frustration (all work fine by the way).

Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Check your signal readings on each transponder on the 99(b), 103(a) and 103(b) satellites. Post back your results here. Might be that your dish's alignment needs tweaking.

The Satellites I have signals for are:

101
110
119
99(s)
103(s)
103(c)

Which ones do you need readings for?

Thanks for the help,
Ethan

Ignore my last post, I googled and figured it out. Here are the signal ratings (same for both tuners):

99 (s)
1-8: 00 97 91 89 68 95 NA NA
9-16: All NA
17-24: All NA
25-32: All NA

103 (s)
1-8: 00 00 00 00 00 00 NA NA
9-16: NA NA NA NA NA NA 89 84
17-24: 87 97 82 85 92 00 95 93
25-32: All NA

103(c)
1-8: 95 77 92 74 91 74 90 79
9-16: 92 79 91 89 91 88 NA NA
17-24: 87 NA NA NA NA 95 NA NA
25-32: All NA

Seems some of them are getting good 90+ others only average in the 70's. Which could be why some of my HD seem to work better than others (less skipping, etc).

Does this tell you anything?

Ethan

Actually those signal readings look fine. Let's see if anyone else here can offer some advice.

Please post your signals for 110. ESPN is on that satellite, tp 12. Try it with and without the BBC.
