Okay so im getting a HD-DVR box installed next week and i dont want to many wires in my house so can i get buy with just 1 wire because i know you need 2 to the DVR box but thats just for recording 2 shows at once right?? All i want to do is wach tv and just pause rewind etc and just record 1 show at a time so the 2nd is not needed correct?

Yes, you can use a HR20/21 with only one tuner, if you wish.
You can only watch and/or record a single satellite channel at a time. So, you can't watch one, and record another, at the same time.
If you have a HR20, you can watch and/or record a 2 different OTA channels. If you use an antenna, and properly diplex it into the single coax.

The standard DVR installation practive by a Directv installer is to run two lines. The lines in many cases are siamese cables so it appears as one large cable instead of two smaller separate ones. If the installer is going to drill holes and run a wire, let them put two through the same hole IMHO. The will run four lines at the dish anyway.
On the other hand, if you search the term SWM, you will learn about the newer products that are starting to surface in select areas that allow two SAT tuners to work off one line.
And as the previous post answered your question, you can live with one line with limited recording capability.

Well a siamese cables sounds good i mean thats why i ask these questions alot of people leave certain things out like when i first got HDTV and saw that during the day it was side bars and not full HD all the time 24 hours a day :) no one told me that one!!
