Zaclies,

No its not normal. If the signal comes back when the clouds lighten, I'd suspect an alignment issue. The installer hopefully left a direct phone number to the office for warranty repair. You can call Dish but a call direct to the installer (contracted or Dish owned) will usually get them out quicker.

Not sure if you can do this before you get a signal but try it (or wait until you get a signal). Select 6-1-1 (Point Dish) and check out signal strength on 110, 119 and/or 129. If they are red than it is most likely an alignment issue and the installer should come out and realign. I had Dish for 4 months no problem until a windstorm than I lost signals and noticed signal strenth had dropped to low teens. Dish came out and realigned and now back in the 60s.

It never hurts to check connections. My installer tightened ever connection except one. And sometimes they loosen over time. All it takes is a 7/16" open ended wrench. Wrench tighten all connection. Be a little careful, you do not want to screw up the cable connectors by over tightening and thus deforming the connector.

DO NOT USE PLIERS. Pliers will deform the connectors.

You'll have to push "menu" then 6-1-1, and yes you can do it with no signal.

I suggest against the use of a wrench to tighten the "f" connectors, most are designed only to be finger tight. If you must use a wrench, be gentle. There is nothing to be gained once the connector makes contact.

I've heard Dish has a new policy on call backs, that is you'll have to go through the 800 # to get them back to realign. The installers that work for Dish can't leave a number anymore. Of course, if you bought from a local retailer, that's all different, call him directly.

You shouldn't lose signal except in extremely heavy rain and then only for short periods.

Good Luck, Eric

I bought through Dish, and he left his personal cell number and the local office number. If it happens again, I will call. Thanks!!

I wouldn't wait. Just call him to say what happened. Let him deceide what should be done from there.
