How do you reset a remote to work with a different box? My buddy is wanting to swap remotes with his sister. His is the RC24 and hers is the RC64. Can this be done and if so how?

If both receivers are in DirecTV mode.

There is no reset that is needed...

I can attest to that. I have a half dozen or more DirecTV remotes floating around the house, and none of them stay in the same rooms day to day, yet they all work just fine no matter where they end up.

If the rc24 were controlling a receiver via RF, to turn the IR back on you could do one of 3 things:


1. directv device
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 6 1
4. press CH DOWN

You could simply program a code to the directv device:

1. directv device
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 0 0 0 0 1

or to really reset the remote, which includes clearing the codes out of all devices:

1. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
2. enter 9 8 1
