View Full Version : 722 Dropping Show from Schedule but Remains on Timer

I posted this a few months back and got some potential ideas but nothing worked. Dish CSR put me with the "advanced Engineering" department but no lock. Dish sent a new 722 but it does the same thing. Thought I would try one last time here under the 622/722 forum to see if anyone else is experiencing this. Scheduling shows on ALMOST all the channels work just fine but there are 1 or 2 channels that this happens on and I can't figure out why. I set up a timer to record show A 3 days in the future and everything looks fine. About 10-15 hours later show A has disppeared from the Schedule but the timer is still there. If I go to the timer and select "Edit" and then "Done" (without actually changing anything) show A reappears on the Schedule but ... 10-15 hours later it disappears again. Any ideas?

What channels?

Also, does a nightly automatic update occur during that 10-15 hour span?

Went back and read your posts... You indicate it is on SD movie channels. Can you give one in particular? What timer are you creating? What is the number of timers you have and the number of timer events?

You might be running into a bug and since it appears you have a good track record of repeating it.. Let see if we can duplicate it and then report it so it can be fixed (If it is a bug). The other possibilities and why I asked more questions is this can happen for two other reasons I am aware. Running over your maximum number of timers and set up a HD timer with and SD backup sitting on the same channel.

To eliminate a couple of suggestions.

1. It is not an update thing. I have verified this by setting the timer in the morning after the update (I have a 0615 update) and when I return from work around 5 pm it is off the schedule. I have also moved the timer to the afternoon and scheduled the timer before bed and it is gone when I wake up.

2. It is not a timer limit issue as I deleted all of my timers except one of these and it still did the same thing.

3. Not entirely all movie channels/movie length issue. Specific channels it has done this for (may be more but have just verified these) are the Hallmark Movie Channel (HMC - 187), RFDTV - 9398, DIY - 111 and Cinemax -310. Cinemax is the interesting one as it only happens on Cinemax SD channel 310 not the HD channel 310.

To clarify the issue. The TIMER is NOT disappearing. The show completely falls off the schedule screen (not crossed out like it was a priority or duplicate event) but the TIMER is still on the timer screen. When I select the timer and choose edit and then done the show returns to the schedule for 10-15 hours.

Thanks for the questions.

At this point, DB, when the show falls off the schedule screen, does anything show up in History for the "missing" recording?
If so, what does it say?

It says nothing at all in the history. Like the show was never on the schedule. For instance if it was show B that was dropping off and the schedule has Show A at 2:00, Show B at 5:00 and Show C at 9:00 after setting all 3 timers than 10-15 hours later all 3 timers are still on the timer screen but the schedule screen says Show A at 2:00 and Show C at 9:00. Nothing at all about Show B.

How about after the 10-15 hours lapse, and the show "returns," is it then listed in History?
We're asking all the questions, in order to try to duplicate the issue. If it can be duplicated, we may be able to determine the cause, presuming it's s/w related. :)

I had this happen to me once, a few weeks back, with a timer set to record from one of my HD LiLs. Timer never fired, wasn't marked on the EPG anymore, wasn't in the history as skipped or conflicted... but it was still in the defined timer list.

I was never able to reproduce the problem, however, so I never have found out what happened.

I have more than A, B, & C dropping. We are losing the whole alphabet on our 722. We have to watch the items carefully, and as long as we manually set the recordings to go the same day, they work. They are switching out this unit for us, as they couldn't figure out why this was happening.

Cameltop - Finally someone else who is experiencing this. What channels do you have a problem with. Mine are HMC, AMC, DIY, RFDTV and all the premium movie channels in SD. Probably would be a lot more but I don't record too much stuff other than locals and the above. Could you do me a favor and set a timer for a premium movie channel in SD and another for premium channel HD and see if the HD stays and the SD disappears? I hope you have better luck but Dish sent me a new 722 when I explained the problem to them in September and they could nopt figure it out but the new 722 does the exact same thing. Let me know if your new 722 solves the problem.

Also, is it the same problem as I described? Does the timer remain in the Timers but the show drops from the schedule? Have you done the "Edit/Done" thing and it brought the show back to the schedule only to be dropped again?
