Currently have an HR20 and several SD DirecTivos (and no service protection plan). A Slimline dish and the first HR20 were installed before the 103b satellite was lit up and although my 103 signals are pretty good, they are somewhat lower than the 80s and 90s that other people in my area are getting. If I add another HR2x, will the installer do a free fine tune on the Slimline as part of the DVR install, or will I have to pay extra for that?

Ask him what kind of beer he likes, my suggestion buy a couple of 12 packs of Corona.

It's worked for me.

Maybe, maybe not. Especially if they are in the "acceptable" range.

Now, if say, Andrew Jackson were to speak to the installer on your behalf, then the odds of a realignment go way, way up. :D Of course Mr Grant has more pull than Mr Jackson. With that being said, Mr Franklin will have the job done even before you finish asking.

When I added my second HR2X, it was replacing an existing receiver and the installation was defined as an HD upgrade. The work order included the installation of a new dish, even though none was required.

I still had to old dishes on the roof. When the installer came, he commented that I didn't need a new dish. At that point, I asked him if he could just pull down the old dishes and that I would take care of installing the receiver while he was doing that. He said "no proglem (even though it was raining that day).

When I gave him a $40 tip, he said "But, I didn't do anything." I told him that anyone who's willing to go on my roof for me in the rain (my roof has a 12/12 pitch) gets a good tip, regardless of the amount of work required.
