View Full Version : Ok, so who loses the monkey NEXT year? (NFL)

I see a trend here.

Last year, our sad-sack Patriots came out of nowhere to win the Super Bowl. Those not from New England can't appreciate the sorry and pethetic history this team has had over the years. Times when their stadiums toilets backed up because nobody tested the water system. When a coach electrocuted himself with a microphone. When they had to dress across the street form their playing field, at a hotel across the street from Harvard Stadium.. How when they finally made it to a Super Bowl, they were routed in the worst blowout in history (to that date) following their star reciver mysteriously cutting himself with a knife.

This year, it's the Buccanneers - who started their existence 0-26 and had the 2nd most-difficult-to-reproduce logo (the Errol Flynn Bucanneer, second only to "Old Pat Patriot" before the Patriots current "Elvis" logo) in the league.

So what historically inept team with a lousy history is going to go Cinderella on us next year? Now that the Patriots and Buccaneers have gotten the moneky off their backs and the ring on their finger - who's next?

Da Bears are disqualified because they WON a Super Bowl (see SB XX vs. the same Patriots I mentioned earlier).

The Bengals, Cardinals and Chargers are all candidates, though I don't think the Chargers come off as being as dilapidated as the bengals are right now. And Cincy has had good teams in the past - losing a Super Bowl to SF on a goal-line stand (if memory serves). I say the Lions except that they've been competitive until Sanders quit and they have a far more 'glorious history' as opposed to the kinds of histories New England and Tampa Bay had.

Houston is too new, as are Jacksonville and Carolina.

Guess it's down to the Bengals, the Cardinals or maybe the Seahawks who can claim utter mediocrity for as long as Tampa Bay has been around...

I think the Cowboys will be back to the top sooner then people think....I realize that they have won many championships before, but they will be there again soon.

Go Seahwaks...One would think Paul Allen would have enough money to buy a superbowl

No, Paul Allen is too busy keeping Trailblazers out of jail!
