When I noticed the price drop on the HD DVR so I signed up to take the HD plunge.

1/14: I called up to have a HD DRV installed. They hold me that it would be 1/31 before they could install it.

Daily I check to see if the appointment is setup and if someone cancels out so I can take a sooner one.

1/22: I find that I have been Unscheduled. Call DirecTV to talk to the sub contractor (MasTec) to have it set back up again. Told the best they could do was 2/4 (after the SuperBowl!)

1/30: Find that I have been unscheduled AGAIN! Called DirecTV and told them I am getting very unhappy, and no I don't want to take an new install date for 2/16. I want my old one back. The nice rep worked with the installers and they will "work me in" for 2/5. The excuse that was given was that I had a "large" order. Right now I only have an old TiVo and a HR10 and I will be replacing the TiVo as it is on it's last legs. That afternoon I saw it setup back on the website.

1/31: Find I am unscheduled one more time! I don't know what I can do, I have worked with DirecTV and the installer says, yes, I see you setup to be installed on Tuesday, I don't know why the website does not show that it is setup.

What are the odds that I am going to see an installer? I have to take time off work to get this installed. Should I believe the call reps or the website?

The website also did this with my install date (this past sunday) on the website. The installer showed up within the install window. I did get a call confirming the install date from directv automated system.

I would get the phone number of the installer and confirm with them to be sure.

Hmm, maybe that is what I should be worried about. They told me at the time it has not been assigned to an installer yet. I guess I'll give them the rest of the day and call them tomorrow to see who the installer is.

Are you just trying to get the new DVR or do you also need the new dish ?

If you just need a new DVR just go buy one and install it yourself.

Sometimes the free DVR upgrade isn't worth all the hassle of waiting for an install date, then taking off work and waiting all day for some guy to come over for 15 minutes to connect up the DVR.

Need the dish and I know I personally don't have a chance setting up a 5 LNB with as much trouble that I had with the 3. All of my other DVR's was just "installed" myself.
