View Full Version : do I have all the sats?
I got HD installed yesterday but Im not sure if I got all the satellites or not. He but the slimline dish up and there are only 3 lnbs on it. If you are looking at the dish from the front there are 3 lnbs on the right and 2 spots that look like they hold lnbs on the left. I am getting HD channels( not sure if I have them all) but why are not all the lnbs on there?

You probably have the right dish. There are only 3 LNB receivers if you will. I can't remember which is which, but one of them has the capablility to receive 3 SAT signal.
Are you receiving all of your programming?

The bigger LNB in the middle of the dish has SAT 99, 101, and 103 all in one. If you are looking at the back of this dish so you can see the LNB's it is the one on the right.

That space isn't for anything, it's just cosmetic.

This is a different issue, but if anyone can help it would be great...........I tried to self install a new slimline dish but cant get the either tuner to connect. Do I need to connect all four outputs to a multi-switch then to the reciever or what? To my understanding if the tuners wont connect then I wont be able to position my dish. Any input will help. Thanks

The inside of the lnb is one thing I wish the manufacturers would change the looks of. One type has the hole leading to questions about whether or not the install was done right. The other has no cover at all on the inside which leads to questions about whether or not the installer may have dropped and broken it.
Another thing that would be nice is if they would print "Directv 5-LNB" on the outside of the lnb (like E* does with the dish pro lnb). Something so simple would clear up a lot of confusion about the slimline dish.

Meany112 - My installer had dropped his meter the week before so he used an H20 to aim my dish. He hauled the H20 and a tiny TV up to behind the dish and tuned the dish that way. Point being that you should be able to tune off a single line. He did it before the grounding block but I'm guessing he could have done it after. I have no multi-switch so that's not an issue. Sounds like you're way out on your initial aiming. Are you sure you're using the right settings? Might add that he nailed my setup with high 90's pretty much across the board so you don't need high tech meters to make it work.
