View Full Version : 103(a) signal strengths changed a lot - moving channels around transponders?

Hi, everyone. When my Slimline was installed at the end of November 2007, my 103(a) signals were:

26 92 66 0 0 97 NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA 0 0
96 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA

Now, they are:

0 0 0 0 0 0 NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA 84 0
97 0 0 0 89 0 86 0
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA

Those numbers are for tuner 1. (Currently, tuner 2 numbers are 5-9 points lower than tuner 1.)

I've noticed the same thing on 99(b). The 6 active transponders changed from:

90 75 0 88 87 73

to

64 0 0 0 86 45

For this satellite, tuner 2 is 72 0 0 0 91 46.

You can see that some strong signals have changed to 0s, and some 0s have changed to strong signals. Does this mean that D* has moved channels around from transponder to transponder? I have not experienced any signal-related problems with my installation (except when there was about 1.5 inches of snow stuck to the dish). Thanks in advance for helping me to understand what is going on. I've learned a lot while reading these forums.

Yes, quite a few HD locals that were previously on Spaceway1 have been moved to DirecTV10. The 103(a) menu page, soon to be called 103(s) for spot beam, now incorporates the spot beam HD (and in the case of D10 a few new SD) local signals from both satellites. The 103(b) menu page will be called 103(c) for CONUS, and it will show only the CONUS tp's for the DirecTV10 mpeg4 HD's.

Harrisburg locals were some of those that have been moved, from Spaceway 1 at 103 to DirecTV10 at 103. My guess is you are on the 103(a) screen TP17.

Thanks to both of you for the info. Glad to know there is no reason to be concerned.
