I just installed my slimeline 5lnb and everything went off without a hitch...except I have no signal on sats 99 and 103. Any ideas? I have 2 cable running directly from the dish to the receivers. Does it matter which 2 connectors out of the lnb I am connected to?

Did you properly "dither" your dish alignment to peak the Ka-band readings (99 & 103-deg W)? See the installation videos here ....

And no, it does not matter which output cables connect from your SlimLine to the Receiver.

If this is a dish upgrade to an existing receiver, is it safe to assume that you selected the 5 LNB dish in the setup process, or are you saying you have the 99 and 103 signal strength menu pages and they're all 0's or na?

Update:

I forgot to put the b band convertors on my receivers. Now I get 103b but nothing on 99b or 103a. Is this normal? Should I be seeing signals on 99b and 103a? Is there channels I would be missing?

my signals are as follows.

I think you got it!

But...word on the street is that 99 is not active yet (2/08) so any signal received is a fluke. Also, depending on where you are you get either 103 (a) OR 103 (b).

Any DTV engineers out there? How about a clarification? I do this work all the time but won't work for the HSPs so I don't get the cool handouts.

If you're in NYC you should be seeing signal readings on a few of the 99 and 103(a) satellites. Those are "spot beam transponders", and only a few are aimed towards New York.

What's a bit surprising is that your 103(b) readings look great. Those are the Conus (continental US) transponders, so that suggests your alignment is good. But I'm puzzled that you're not seeing anything on 99 or 103(a).

Are you getting all of your channels now? Especially check your local HD channels.

Not true, Joe. Spaceway2 at 99-deg W has been active for over a year now with Ka-band spotbeam transponders providing local HD channels to many cities (including my Seattle local HD channels) ....

And the new DirecTV satellite due to launch in late March will be parked at that location, too.

99 and the 103s are all spot beams.. only get them in certain areas..

Yeah, NYC HD locals are on 99(b) and tp 4 sticks in my mind. Are you receiving the HD versions of CH's 2, 4, 7, 13 etc.? They'll be in the Guide under the stations' call letters, i.e., WABC, WCBS, etc. The ones that say NYC 2, NYC4, etc. are the SD versions.

Joe, the HD locals are on 99(b)/(s) (Spaceway2) and 103(a)/(s) (Spaceway1 and DirecTV10.) 99(a)/(c) (DirecTV11), carrying more mpeg4 HD channels, is due to be launched in March and won't be on the air for sometime after that while it's being positioned and tested.

Yeah, I just went through almost every HD channel listed on D* website and it seems that I have everything. If I am missing any channels, I couldn't tell you which ones. Yes I am seeing my local HD channels...WCBS, WNBC, WNYW, WABC
