Good morning! I am a long-time lurker, but have decided to become a first-time poster!

Awhile back I saw a message thread about the "last ditch effort" programming package that DISH would offer a customer that was about to cancel?. I don't remember much about it except that you got only a few channels, and that it cost less than the package that starts with 50 channels.

(I have used the search feature for this info, to no avail....)

Can anyone tell me:

1)The name of the package.

2) The cost of the package.

3) If a person can keep their locals (if they already have them)

4) What channels are included in the package.

Thanks for your time. You are good friends! :hi:

AFAIK....

If you don't subscribe to either a AT package or a Dos Latinos package, you will be charged a $5 access fee.

Having said that...
* You can get locals only from Dish for $5.99+$5 access fee.
* You can get AT-50+Locals for $29.99 effective February 1st (No Access fee)

I might consider one of those as options....

What I was thinking of was a thread about a pkg that was not advertised everywhere that they would offer to a person who was about to drop Dish altogether.

Seems like you got TVLand, Cartoon Network, CNN, MSNBC, ... about 10 channels, and it cost something like $10 or $12 a month....

thanks,

Carl

Hi Carl, Welcome to DBSTalk. :)

I remember the thread as well and it seems to me the cost you stated is correct. I tried doing a search and can't find it....
It's not really a pkg if I remember right.

I bet one of our users will know for sure, or you can try a call to Dish just to inquire, you may have to play CSR roulette to find out.

Welcome Carl! :hi:

There used to be a package for $15/month called Dish Pix, where you could pick up to any 10 regular-non premium channels (with some limitations) you want. That package went away a few years ago. Back then AT40 (now AT50) was only $20/month. For five extra bucks you got 30 additional channels. But Dish Pix was great for those who only wanted certain channels at a very low cost. I just can't place a customer retention type package. I now DirecTV is (sometimes) using their old Select Choice programming package as a last ditch retention effort.

It was called the essentials package. I don't know if they still offer it.

I currently have 1 Int'l a la carte ($10) and my locals ($6), and two receivers ($10). Is this last $10 a $5 "access" fee plus $5 for the second receiver, or is it two $5 access fees? Put another way, if I add an AT package, do I lose one or both of these $5 fees?

If both, this would be a nice deal, since AT50+locals is $30, which would make my entire package $40 - only $14 more than my current subscription. Not that I'm ready to spring for $14, but it would be a lot easier to take than the $25 I'd always assumed adding AT50 would cost.

Thanks a lot for any info.

You would lose one of the $5 fees. The other $5 is the fee for a second receiver.

Thanks, Doc.

Won't be jumping for that AT-50 soon ...
