Just wondering as I can't recall any major movies I wanted to see on the movie channels....
Just short of PPV, I would rather take the $$, go with Choice Xtra and then Netflix it. Awaiting the Netflix version of Tivo Unbox (which should be quite a treat as well) !.
Just pondering outloud.....

I totally agree, I could never watch enough movies to justify the subscription, PPV does it for me and that doesn't even happen that often. I can barely keep up with the series I record

Anyone ever think of getting the AppleTV? Once their big update comes out, you'll be able to rent/buy movies/tv shows w/o the use of a computer. They also have HD versions too. $4 for SD and $5 for HD.

Selection is key....Have not used the apple but netflix has quite the lions nest.
I'm going to miss Californication on Showtime, but saving the $$ is more important.
:)
Choice fer me... Its about 55 channels short of Choice Xtra. I'll see what im really missing then.

Going from Premier to Choice Xtra, you lose the premium movies (HBO/Starz/Sho/Cmax), as well as the Sports Pack (FSN's, etc) (600 block).
I think thats about it...

After watching Steve Job's very long keynote, he says that they have all the major production companies onboard, as well as quite a number of other production companies. I know they won't have the selection Netflix has for DVDs (75,000+ titles! Wow!), but they have a hell of a lot more than Netflix's "watch now". I'd say it worth to check it out once they release the big update within a week or so. :)

Is it possible to get the Choice Xtra pack plus the Sports Pack? I really don't want all the movie channels.

Absolutely. Just like any premium movie package, the Sports Pack can be added to your package @ 11.99/mo (I think).
This will include the 600 block, unless there is a Professional Sports Game or its being carried by a local affiliate

??? So, I can't watch any of the pro games on the RSNs even if it's not "blacked out"? Why is that? I just downgraded from Premier to Choice Xtra + Sports, but now I'm questioning whether the "+ Sports" is going to be worth anything. What, if anything, does it get you?

You don't get anything extra from the sports pack by being a "premier" customer, so you will get the same type programming that you were getting from that pack before you downgraded your package.
Premier is nothing more than Choice Extra plus the 5 premium packages. Those 5 packages are HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, and the Sports Pack.

+1 on netflix over premimium channel for movies. If you have a multimedia pc you can even hoo it up to your tv and stream movies as part of your netflix subscription. Netflix is a much better deal then apple because you can keep the movie as long as you want and you can get way more rentals from netflix for your money. If you have any of the unlimited plans you can straem as many moies as you want.
On another note I can't see my self dropping showtime because I enjoy too much of thier origional content. Dexter, californication, weeds and big brother after dark are all worth the money I spend on showtime. But if you don't mind waiting you can get dexter, weeds and californication from netflix as well :)
