There seemed to be a lot of different ways to receive Super Bowl XLII. How did you get it the best?
"how did you watch the Super Bowl?"
I watched it with my eyes. :)
Watching on my DIRECTV HR20-700 tuned to WNYW-Fox 5 MPEG4 HD. :)
And I was very happy :D :D :D
Recorded on both HD DVRs and watched buffered. Adjusted the padding to 1 1/2 hrs after initially padding for 3 hours.
Way to go Big Blue! BEST SUPER BOWL EVER!!!
ETA: I recorded it on ch. 88 on both DVRs, I had no idea about ch. 700/701.

For me, it was OTA. My local Fox station just turned on to HDTV. They had been broadcasting in SD up through Tuesday. The flicked the switch that night. And I have to say their new equipment looked magnificent. It was a phenominal picture with no glitches or problems.
Way to go, Fox 25/48 La Crosse/Eau Claire! :)

I was at a party so I had to watch it on Comcrap but I will give them a little credit for once. The PQ was very good.

OTA all the way, GREAT SUPERBOWL.
Recorded OTA KOKH but generally watched in real time with no issues.
Sound was louder on 701 but can't say if it was necessarily better.

Watched the game on 88, but it was also on my HD LIL. The picture was a little better on 88. I could have also watched it on 701.

i watched using 701. My local fox station had some horrible video stutter for some reason, but i will say my fox feed had a more vibrant picture but the video stutter was too much.

OTA broadcast directly from the Empire State Building :D
Although I did have the MPEG4 WNYW recording at the same time... just in case :)

I voted other. I set my DVR's to record it (LIL Fox), and then just played the last 2 minutes to find out who won.
I'll go back and watch the commercials after HOUSE is over. As far as the game....no skin in it for either team.
I watched on KVVU HD 5 and 701

OTA and HD LiL were great as was channel 701. I recorded my local Fox 9 HD via Sat and watched on a slight delay. Thus, I voted HD LiL.
D* 700 (SD) had much better picture than LIL Fox SD. Despite having HD I was unable to access D* 701. My DMA has HD LIL but Fox hasn't agreed to allow D* to retransmit.

I watched OTA but I don't know for certain that was the best picture. It usually is very good.

I don't know if OTA was the best, but that's how I watched it. I didn't really think about watching it on any of the other channels - I just watched the local feed...

I watched it on HD LiL but bounced back and forth between the Big Game and SciFi Channel's Enterprise marathon. Thank God for SLB and the recording workaround.
OTA with the tuner in my TV. Great picture.
Local Fox HD, via D*. Magnificent picture. Recall telling my son how lucky he is to have grown up in a time when the clarity of big time events is so damn good. Sure wish I'd have had something even close when I used to skip school to watch daytime World Series games. ;)

I watched OTA thru the HR20. Switched back and forth a couple of times with the DirecTV local....Colors seemed to have a little more punch. FOX is my favorite for HD anyway. FOX's HD just seems like POW! when you compare it to NBC or CBS...It's probably just me.
Very cool about channel 701 though....didn't know about that until this AM either. Good looking out DirecTV!
WAY TO GO GIANTS! Was laughing for an hour after it was over! Maybe Eli will give Tom a ride in his new Escalade!
Used Ch. 88 ,audio was better then lil ch 5 WNYW NY :)

Los Angeles OTA Channel 11-1 on the Center TV. (Best Picture)
D* Channel 701 on Left TV (To see differences in quality and to see if NY Local Channel would show different commercials. From time to time, they would. As far as PQ, color was a little saturated and seemed too "red")
D* Channel 212 on Right TV (For up to the second Stats)
I also switched from D* LiL and DNS 89 to check out their PQ but decided to go with OTA feed.

Most was OTA WSYM-HD, but I watched on 701 for the MPEG4 HD. Wanted to see a good HD Local feed and it was a bit more compressed than my MPEG2 OTA feed.
I didn't notice the swimming grass as much locally as I did from the 701 feed when on the 50yd cam

Fox 19 (Cincinnati) had a crappy picture - the HD looked more like a "movie" than a live event. I then tuned into 701 - the picture there was much better.
HR20-100 - I don't have an OTA antenna installed, so everything I get is spot beamed.

It it wasn't for 701 it would have been plain old SD for me! Thanks Directv!
I was going to vote, but couldn't because there isn't a category for "Didn't watch it / don't care / don't know what a Superbowl is".
That admission is the kind of thing that will get you kicked out of Texas.
Blurrily, in 720p Fuzz-o-vision thanks to Fox. No matter how hard I squinted, I was still down a million or two pixels from 1080i. I call that "Extended Definition" at best. You guys with 720p sets, sorry...never mind. Enjoy.

Started and stayed with HD LIL. Sometimes OTA works better but I didn't watch every minute of the game so if there were problems I didn't see any so never switched over to any other channel. Might say I didn't have a personal favorite, neither team is on my "must watch" list, but perfectly happen with outcome. Fourth quarter was pretty interesting but that's the quarter I caught the most of after wrapping up a house project.

My 'other' vote is sort of a 'none' vote. That is, for me in the Dallas area, the local Fox affiliate had a lot of pixelation and audio cutout. The behavior was the same on my HR10-250 via OTA, and on my HR20-700 via LIL.

Watched the Super Bowl on Channel 88. OTA & SD or HD Locals are not an option in my area in WV. Picture quality was excellent. Thank goodness it was not broadcast by NBC as I cannot get a waiver for the NBC HD DNS feed.

Watched first half OTA and second half MPEG4 local. They both looked excellent, but Im always partial to the OTA signal (OTA running on a 65" vs MPEG4 on a 37", so if it looks good on the 65 OTA is definitely better).
I really REALLY liked the outcome :)

Absolute flawless picture on KTVU Ch. 2 HD Bay Area. Perfect lip sync, no picture break up or audio dropouts. I couldn't of been happier and I'm a New Yorker who loved every second of seeing Brady on his ass most of the game. Yeah, baby.
On the edge of my seat. It was the best ever.

After the game, WNYW went into their evening news for about 10 minutes before DirecTV shut down 701.
Going back about 20 years: I remember Ernie Anastos on channel 7 with Katy Tong, after Bill Beutel and Roger Grimsby finally retired (and long after Tex Antoine got kicked off the air for a non-PC remark after a rape story). Channel 9 really had nobody notable, except for Lloyd Lindsey Young doing loud obnoxious weather forecasts before/after Mets games. Closest thing channel 11 ever having to a news team at the time was a burning log on Christmas. Besides Scooter, Frank Messer, and Bill White announcing Yankee games.

I watched it on Canal Street in the French Quarter, New Orleans. Couldn't have been better; beer, mardi gras parade and super bowl projected onto the side of the Marriot Hotel and loudspeakers set up for sound.
But if I was at home it would have been on 701. :)

Well I was watching Fox on NYC locals being in that area. I seem to recall that after the game it wasn't so much a news broadcast as they then moved on to House and then the much delayed 10PM News.
I must be getting old I remember all those names fineware mentioned. I even remember taking the bus to the Port Authority and then catching the subway to the World Fair which was where Shea Stadium is now. The Big stainless steel globe near Shea was put there for the fair as I remember it.
Of course that was then.

Watched at a friends party. He has 3 HD TVs on the Dish network and none are in HD. Meanwhile I have both the HD TV and the D* HD service. Go figure.
Our local Fox affiliate (WYDO) barfed (atmospheric conditions interfered with microwave transmission or something like that) during the Superbowl, luckily someone tipped me of the channel 701, I know other Directv customers who suffered needlessly.

There seemed to be a lot of different ways to receive Super Bowl XLII. How did you get it the best?Indeed there were. I used OTA. Since I only watched it once, and only from one source, how could I answer the question? Was the poll "How did I watch the SuperBowl?" or "Which source was best?". I have to confess to being easily confused -- especially by the confused.
