PLAYSTATION 2 OPTICAL HOOKUP-HELP!

Does anyone know if I can use the optical connection from
a playstation 2 and run it to the optical CD input on my technics
reciever? Will it work? Will it hurt either system in any way?
I would tune to the cd setting on my reciever when I play games.

A little off the subject, but the people here are the most
well-versed on these things!

I use the CD/DVD connection on my Kenwood reciever for my xbox (as well as a my playstation 2 with an optical switcher), and it works like a charm. Just make sure you go into the settings menu of your playstation and turn the optical on, if you haven't already.

Yeah, it'll work just fine. TosLink (S/PDIF over optical) is TosLink. Just make sure your receiver can take the datastream type it will be sent (PCM won't be a problem, and I ASSUME your receiver supports Dolby Digital - so you should be good to go!)

The only problem I had was selecting the right menu option on the receiver. In addition to switching to optical input, I had to designate auto mode selection. Seems more complicated than it needs to be, but hey, it sounds great.
