I have a strange application that requires a special modified mouse. I only use this application on an occasional basis, but, it is a real inconvenience to crawl behind the computer to make the switch. Does anyone know of a switch that will work for this kind of application? This is a bit different than the typical KVM switch that is used for one keyboard/monitor and mouse for two pc's. What I need is to switch between two meeces ;) on one PC. My normal mouse is a wireless mouse if that makes a difference (although I don't think it should).

Not sure if it would work for you but I've had two USB mice connected to a single compute at once and both working.

An interesting thought, but I don't think it would work for my application. The custom mouse and the wireless mouse are both PS2 devices.

Have you tried getting a PS2 to USB adapter?

They make devices which I've seen called KVM Splitters, or PS2 Splitters. I've seen them called Reverse KVMs as well.
Here's a two port model.

I've never used one so I'm not sure if you can use 1 keyboard with the 2 mice and just switch back and forth between the mice. It automatically senses which "user" is currently using the KB/Mouse, and switches control back and forth. I think, though, that you may need to have BOTH a KB and a Mouse hooked up for it to work...
However, I've also heard of people using a USB mouse and a PS2 mouse on the same computer at the same time. The PS2 - USB adapter in the post before might do just what you need it to without any fancy switches or anything.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll check it all out when I get back in later. Here's the device that I need to use it with: http://www.moviestuff.tv/workprinter8mm_function.html

I'm guessing if you hook that contraption up to the PS2 port, you coudl use the USB adapter to run your regular mouse. Not sure how that thing would like the adapter...
I use one of those PS2-USB adapters with my KVM (switching between MAC and PC, so I need all USB). The mouse functions just fine... so if you can get them both going at the same time, you should be just peachy, I think.
