Reports sent to me show that Tyler Texas (all three non duplicated full power channels) are now uplinked to transponder 10 at 110° spot 8? or maybe 6? Not sure on this one. Channels 8880, 8882 and 8883. ABC, NBC and Fox.

Of course the channels are not yet available to subscribers. Now the question is, will the Dallas CBS and PBS be mirrored to fill out the package?

why do they do locals for a city w/ a population of 78,000?

how can that be cost effective?

The city of Tyler may have 78,000 people, but the DMA has 254,780 households. This area is quite large.

Also, they had enough bandwidth to fit the Tyler locals on an existing spot beam.

BTW, does Tyler have a BarBQue channel? I'd watch that!

Texas has a lot of room in spot beams, 110 and 119 both have a spot on Texas. They probably have enough room to add another small market if they wanted. Small markets with 4 stations are great for DBS, the small market stations probably do not care if they are on DBS and won't be demanding fees or other channels carried.
