I have the Hughes dish with Dual-LNB that DTV was giving to new subscribers back in September. Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to put a Y-splitter into one of the LNBs on the dish so I just have one cable running into the house, and then put another one on the receiver end to split it back out to two inputs? Would a Y-splitter even be necessary on the dish side?

Thanks!

Satellite signals can't be split with standard splitters, they are divided with MULTISWITCHES. What you want to do is impossible with a reasonable cost. Satellites use voltage switching to determine which channels are sent to your receiver and you can't send two voltages on the same cable at the same time.
