Not really an issue, but I posted a while back that DoD library is empty. That's not the case now, I guess it takes a while to download and populate the list.

Just a quick question...does this version allow you to hide SD channels if an HD is present? Didn't see it in the notes, but that was a heck of a list, I might have missed it.

Got this update last night but have one question. I can't seem to get the 30Skip search to work. I do the keyword search but it finds no results and the behavior doesn't change. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, can't wait for my VOD to populate!

You won't get any results....

30SKIP and that is it.

What button are your pressing to test the 30s SKIP

I was pushing the skip forward button and still getting a 30second slip... but I just tried again and this time I made sure to this the Done option after it said no results and now it works. I must have exited after getting the no results screen.

Thanks!

Wow just came home to the new update with my, rather new, HR21-200. So far............I love it!!!

I notice I don't have the 103B satellite anymore... 103C and 103S. It appears 103C is the one for HD channels now (same crappy signal strength that 103B had before... mostly in the 40's/50's).

Yes...that was changed in several DVR models recently.

As for your signal levels, mine are in the mid-80's and up, so you may want to consider having your dish re-aligned to get proper levels.

Very nice I can do the DVR Scheduler on my HR21-200 now. And it works like a charm....

Yes, I called D* right away, and they sent out an installer. He explained that since the 101 levels are in the 90's, which shares the same LNB as 103, there was nothing he could do. The day he happened to be there, the 103 levels were in the 60's, and everything seemed fine. Now, for the last 5 days, the levels have been 0 to 50, mostly averaging upper 40's, so I have another installer coming out Friday morning to check stuff out. The tech support person suggested maybe bad BBCs... but this is a brand new (<3 weeks) installation...

I'm glad they released this version to everyone, I've found that it is very stable, even the media share video is pretty good. DOD has no real problems. All around a good job by D*.

RCA Audio Connection - Not Used
Dolby Digital Setting - Off
Internal Temp - ~108
Install Environment - Open area sitting on shelf

Notes – Turning off the Nero 7 media home server software and booting the HR21-200 works as expected without a hang or lockup. All network tests pass as expected. Even went into Advanced setup in the Network menu and ran a separate connect now test. Downloaded a VOD prior to trying the Nero 7 media server software to make sure network was working as expected. I guess it may be time to try a different network setup and take the WRT54GS with the dd-wrt firmware out of the picture and see it that helps the scenario. However, VOD is working and downloads as expected. I have attached a pdf showing both an HR20-700 at IP address 199.100.123.4 and the HR21-200 at IP address 199.100.123.6. The HR20-700 works just fine playing music/photos/videos using the same Nero 7 software setup.

Priority Rating:
Critical - System is DEAD, must be returned to D*. Everything has been tried to get system working. Consulted with dbstalk for suggestions/solutions
High - System is locked/BSOD/Lost Recordings. Cannot use system.

So thanks to everyone's help I got the media share thingie working last nite. Rebooting my HR21 was the key for me. I couldn't get the "unknown device" thing to show up in the share window until I did that.

Question, I can look at my pictures and play my music. I can't seem to get any of my videos to play. What format do videos have to be in order to play them on my TV? I have lots of .wmv files, but I can't get those to play.

I was hoping that this release would speed up the HR21... But it doesn't seem to. Maybe even slower. The guide appears to have a delay of about 1.5 to 2 seconds each time I scroll the pages. (Yes, the animation is turned off) I was accustomed to the R15 that is very quick to respond, almost instant.

ideas or suggestions?

I've been having a lot of problems with the mediashare video. The unit will allow me to play a file once and then won't access the file again until the box is rebooted. I think that somehow the filename or profile is stored in memory somewhere and it is causing a conflict when it accessed for a second time. (This does not happen with all file formats so it may be the simply be the codecs). I say this because of my experience with the CE previous to the NR release. It would not play video but would act like the video was playing even after exiting the media sharing application. Only a reboot, with its memory dump, would restore proper function The feature is still in beta so you should update your codecs and wait until they stabilize the feature a little more.

Yesterday I was able to watch HD channels without an issue. Today I set up a recording on speed HD (607) SD version is fine. When I got home the recording was still going but the screen was frozen. When I played back the recording, it would play with audio then stop. Fastforwarding would allow the video to play, but of course no audio. I just tried CMTHD (327), and video is frozen but audio's ok and SD is ok. HBOHD (501) works fine for video & audio.

Sorry to yell, but, this is Mrs. Smiddy's soap and she can not live without her soap. Monday and Tuesday's recordings of the local ABC channel recorded it seems but upon playback the video stops, she can forward and reverse but when she hits play it just sits there. Wednesday's recording didn't do this. They are both still on the DVR in case someone knows how to get them off and wants to look them over. I didn't go through the entire show, just the beginings for each day. We also record another channel during this period of time and those recordings were fine.

Do you require more information?

Is there something else I should check?

Realize, Mrs. Smiddy can not live without her soap, making this a high priority in the Smiddy household.

Sorry for the noob questions, I just installed a HR21-700 on Tuesday 2/12 after spending 9 years with 5 SD TiVos. So I was just learning the software and re-programming my MX-950 when I got the 0x1FE update.

1. I thought List-Yellow got you to the To Do list, but no longer seems to. Is there a another shortcut that doesn't require multiple key presses through the menus?

2. I thought Play-Hold got you to Slow mode. Now it seems to be long-press-short press on the Play button?

3. Is there a way to enable something like TiVo's QuickClear feature? I'm not crazy about having to click Exit all the time to clear the time bar.

Thanks for any help.

2) It does... and still does... why you have to hit it twice... don't know
3) No there is not.

Thx. I'm thinking the MX-950 may not send continuous RF signals the way the HR21 expects. As far as the other two items -- guess it's time to build some new macros.

Here is a follow up:

Both Monday and Tuesday's recording start off with an AARP commercial (coincidental I'm sure). Both will run until, what I describe as audio engage, where in a recording where audio doesn't start for a fraction of a second and then engages. Once audio tries to engage the video stops and a split second of audio then it drops out. I can fast forward through the shows and the video is there through each show. This doesn't appear to have happened on Wednesday or Thursday's shows. BTW, both Wednesday and Thursday's shows do not start with the AARP commercial.

Guide is still slow. Also slow responses when scrolling pretty much anything in the interface (To Do list for example). Been this way since the last CE cycle.

Lately I've been having a lot of freezing on the receiver, both on recorded programs and on live tv. I seems to be getting worse, the previous NR was horrible in this regard but this NR seemed fix it as a CE. Yesterday I had over 7 failures that each lasted about 30 sec to 2 minutes. I am going to open a thread to see if others have had issues and if it is my setup.

HR21-200 0x01fe software. Totally locked up. Would not respond to remote or front panel controls. Front panel lights/indicators were on. HR21 was on, but was not currently being watched. Unit was tuned to Seattle 13 KCPQ (mpeg4).

First indication of trouble was my home network stopped working. In chasing that down, found the HR21-200 was causing the problem, once disconnected network again worked. Then started checking HR21 and found it was locked up.

Red button reset and everything is working fine.

Took HR21-200 out of standby approximately 6PM pacific time. I am fairly sure it was on 229 HGTV-SD when put in standby.

Screen was black but the remote was completely responsive. I could go to the playlist, etc. Changing channels brought picture and sound back, and I was able to change back to HGTV without incident.

Just to report that it's still very sluggish in all the menu's, especially the guide. Sometimes it's like it's not picking up the remote signal at all (yes, fresh batteries and it works great with other devices).

The past few days the DVR has paused on its own. We were watching a show this evening and the show stopped with the timer bar coming up and after a time the screen saver comes up. I am waiting for it to happen again before I reboot, RBR, or pull the plug.

Just changed out HR-20 for a HR-21-200 today. I had to have the black! I have one quick question right now. If this new unit does not download the 0x1FE later tonite, how do you FORCE an upgrade? I have asked this question several of times on other threads but can't seem to get an answer. I really appreciate the advice!!
So far no audio drop outs or lip sync problems like my HR-20 had.

Thanks HDTVFAN, it started about 30 minutes after I posted the above. It did do some nice changes and so far no problems at all. Fingers crossed very tightly. LOL

I have to admit the glossy black sure does match and look good with all my A/V equipment.

Testing CE downloads is also very helpful to other users, as the results and feedback helps improve things that end up in the next National Releases...

I dont quite understand what you meant by " Its good to test out CE Downloads"? Are you saying I am "Testing" this version? Or are you saying that its good for you or I to explain to others the positive or negative results of what we are experiencing? Sorry for the questions, but I am still trying to learn this lingo. Welcome to the CE program.

The primary purpose of the CE download program is to test interim firmware updates, so that they can eventually migrate to be distributed as National Releases. This is all covered in the instructions (Read before you download):

http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=90847

In addition to this announcement, on "download nights", this thread is promoted for people new to the process to understand what to do and what not to do (such as having NO contact with CSR's on CE issues).

You are not obligated to do "extensive testing" like many of us do, in fact, reporting any issues in the "issues thread" from normal daily use is helpful in and of itself. This is called passive testing - disclosing CE problems or issues from everyday use.

Some of us do some more intense testing, but again, this is not required to participate.

I posted this in General Discussions and the HR20/21 Q&A but "Supervolcano" suggested I post it here.

I have "recorded" five shows (below) on one of my HR21-200's. After selecting Play, I get the following message:"Searching for Authorized Content". Nothing happens. DVR guide indicates they have been recorded at the right time, duration, channel, etc. but no playback.

John Lennon - Imagine: 2/19, ch 78 HDNM
Medium: 2/25, ch 6, KSBY (NBC)
Soundstage - Sheryl Crow: 2/8, 2/9, 3/2, ch 332 MHD

This message has appeared both before and after (2/12) software update 0x1FE.

Any guidance or info?

Hi All,

I have two difficulties.

intermittent signal strengh on 103 (all HD channels), all other channels are fine.

On my HR 21-700 which I recieved a week ago, it did not recognize 2 local hd stations, reset solved it. However I have continued lockups on just those two channels, audio continues but no video, regardless if native is on or off.

Multiple conversations with Customer support, who admitted to difficulties.

You're absolutely right... after getting this assigned to Case Management, they sent out a 'senior tech', who re-aligned the dish, and checked all the wiring/connections. I have all 90's now, on 101, 110, 119 and 103c. Haven't had problems now in almost a week, so keeping my fingers crossed that the issue has been resolved.
