In my quest to get an HR21 without having to rewire my entire setup (long story in another thread from last week), I thought I could get an HR21 and keep my SD RCA40 Tivo unit.

The problem?

I only have 3 coax coming into the house (this can't be changed at the moment)

Now, on to my question:

Can I run two coax feeds to a HR21 and just one to the Tivo? If I do this, I can still watch the Tivo unit, but would have to be on the same channel that is recording at the time, correct?

Yes, you can use the HR10 with one input. I am currently doing that with 2 of them. You just need to go back to the Satellite setup and rerun it so it will not constantly be looking for the second tuner. If you hook an antenna up to it, you can use one OTA tuner also, but becasue the way the machine sees each pair of OTA and Sat tuners as one logical tuner, you could not record OTA and watch Sat at the same time or vice versa.

Using this setup, you would not be able to watch one thing live and record another show, that is correct. There is nothing stopping you from watching a recording while something else is recording though.
