I can connect fine with Firefox, otherwise how am I posting on same computer?

When I launch and attempt to use IE I get: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I ran a diagnostic and got the following:

Last diagnostic run time: 02/16/08 10:32:18 HTTP, HTTPS, FTP Diagnostic
HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity

info HTTP: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.
info FTP (Passive): Successfully connected to ftp.microsoft.com.
info HTTPS: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.

So if IE can connect, why can't I make a connection?

Yes I am typing in the correct address and IE is not offline.

Have you restarted your computer?

Are you using a copy of IE from your ISP or maybe some tweaks that were loaded by your ISP. The reason I ask is maybe they set IE to use a Proxy Server that is no longer available? Check this under connections, if so delete all of them and you should be good to go.

Other then that I have seen something very strange with a friends computer. When he launched IE from the shortcut on his desktop as well as the one within the Start Menu it would launch IE but it didn't seem to work properly. To resolve this I went to Start Run then type in IEXPLORE which lunched Internet Explorer and it worked fine. One this was proven to work I just removed the old Incons and copied new short cuts over.

I'm sure someone is going to ask why would you want to use Exploder when you are using Firefox which I think is WAY better, safer and faster but I would want to have IE as a backup for those pesky sites that don't work with FF.

You could also go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs/Remove IE. It will give you a repair option.

Nope, straight download from Microsoft. I never use any disks from ISP's. :)

Because there are certain websites for work that only work with IE.

It's strange but I have the same settings on my laptop as this computer and IE works there. I'll try the remove and repair to see if that works.

Problem solved. I had an expired version of Zone Alarm and it was blocking IE. Once I un installed ZA, IE started to work.

Glad you were able to resolve the issue by updating Zonealarm. I was going to have you reset the IP stack.
