I've been considering adding EXTENDED warranty and had some questions before signing up ...... According to Dish Networks own website the following information is as follows

Pricing comparison for customers needing Out Of Warranty repair
Extended Warranty and No warranty.

Extended Warranty No Warranty
Out Of Warranty (OOW) Repair Fee
$49.99 $69.99

Advance Exchange Fee
$14.95 $14.95

Extended Warranty Price
$1.99 n/a

Total:
$66.93 $84.94

Could someone please explain the extended warranty to me if you understand this to be any different than what I think it is saying.......

To me it appears that you will only be saving $18.01 if you have to have any receiver replaced than what it would be costing you if you have no warranty at all........However during the first year you will pay a $1.99 activation fee plus twelve (12) more consecutive payments to have this extended warranty. 13 X $1.99 +$25.87. So if you have the extended warranty and have a receiver fail within the first year you'd be charged $66.93 + $23.88 = $90.81.
If you don't have the extended warranty for the next year you'd pay $84.94 for a receiver replacement under the No warranty.

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I called Dish as a prospective new customer and had a already Dish subscriber with me who wanted to know how this would work. The CSR did not want to give me any information unless he was given the telephone number of the subscriber account. I just laughed and hung the phone up.

I called back and talked with another CSR and she said that I understood this correctly. So IMHO the only way the EXTENDED Warranty would be worth it at all is if you have high end receivers that could be needing replacement.

IMHO it would not be worth those fees for the 301 receiver that only costs $89 - $99 to begin with....... It would probably be wor
The CSR told me that she could not pull up the information on her computer to give the an idea of what the costs of replacement would be for SW64 switches, LNB's etc......
She gave me a number to call that could tell me ------------------- 1-800-(220-3474). The number was unavailable.

The preceeding information was confusing at best. as per the way it was written. I called a CSR at 1-888-220-3474 and asked the same questions. This is the department that takes care of warranty and returns etc......
The $49.00 only applies if you do not have the extended warranty today and have a defective receiver or what ever. Then and only then they charge you the $49.00 plus if you want the receiver replaced.....
If you do not have any problems with your equipment at all and purchase the extended warranty first and then after 30 days have a problems with any dish branded equipment they will replace the item free of charge. Then you can pay the $14.95 handling fee.........

I feel alot better about that than what was posted above......

Just another case in point to play CSR roulette.........Not to get a better deal but to get the RIGHT information the first time. Not have to talk to 3 for wrong answers and then 1 more to get the right answer......

for me, the coverage is worth it. I've been a dish customer for about 4 years now. I've had to use the swap twice now on my Dish 6000 HD box. Them boxes ain't cheap. I'm not so sure dish would give me a 50.00 option to swap out a bad dish 6000 box.

I also have 2 other receivers that are faulty and prob. need to be replaced. Right now, they are sitting on the shelf since I upgraded on my own to newer models. But, the fact that I can plug these older models in and if they don't work, get them swapped out, is worth it to me. I look at it as protecting my investment $$ in dish equipment.

Had two 7100 Dishplayers that crapped out at the same time...very weird. Both were replaced with 7200s for $14.95 shipping each. No questions asked.

Excellent program.

Can someone tell me if the extended warranty covers cabling, and the LNB's etc...or just the receivers??? I have no problems now, but I have hungry squirrels outside who have already chewed through 2 sets of phone cables and my phone program I have allowed me to replace the wiring free of charge. If Dish covers wiring too, then it is 100% worth every penny.

I think it was only equipment, not cabling.

Does the warranty cover remotes too? Mine has fallen off the sofa onto the wood floor too many times. It still works, but there are several loose pieces inside that rattle when picked up.

Yes, Dish's extended warranty covers ANY/ALL Dish-branded equipment INCLUDING remotes.
