Just a reminder folks, the new Dragnet with Ed O'Neill and Ethan Embry, will premier tonight at 10PM on ABC :) (I've been looking forward to this for months)

It may take a while to not think of Al Bundy every time I watch it :D

It's even in HD! :) Very nice looking HD...I'm really hoping that the charaters loosen up just a little bit, though. This episode is really stiff...(and not just because of all the dead stiffs!)...

Through out the episode, I kept thinking to myself, "Self...this looks just like another 'Law and Order' series."

At the end of the show I realized why...It's a Dick Wolfe Production.

Anyway, I also noticed that Friday's partner was NOT Bill Gannon. Is Harry Morgan still kickin' to be able to put in an a ppearance as the retired Bill Gannon? I don't remember what Friday's (Webb's) partners names were in the two previous encarnations. Locally WVXU played an old radio Dragnet show on their "Big Show" on Saturday night. I forgot the name of his partner on that show too.

See ya
Tony

Very good show last night! Wow ABC now has 2 new series I like, Miracles and now Dragnet. I was wondering the same thing, whats up with the name Frank Smith. While Friday ain't no Sipowitz (Blue) or Bosco (Third Watch) he still has that same 'I'm not taking any crap from you' attiude, and that's what I like to see in a police drama. :)

I didn't care for it. Its not Dragnet, its Law and Order: LA.

If they wanted to make another Law and Order series, fine. But don't rip off the name and memory of Dragnet.

I didn't really care for it. Everytime I see O'Neill I can't get the Bundy chacter outta my mind. But the show just seemed slow and boring to me.

in the original tv version of dragnet, friday's partner was frank smith, played by an actor named ben alexander, who later appeared as the desk sarge on a police show starring howard duff and dennis cole, the name of which escapes me now-when webb resurreted dragnet in the sixties, alexander was committed to this other show, so webb hired harry morgan as bill gannon, morgan just coming off a few years on a show called kentucky jones and many years as a popular character actor in a wide range of films...
