Does anyone know of a device or vendor of an Ethernet over coax cable solution ?

I searched google for "ethernet over coax" and came up with this:

http://cctvproducts.stores.yahoo.net/hietovco.html
That is pretty close, except I'm looking for a smaller size and lower cost product.

depending on the through put you want, you could use VERY old networking equipment that use to run over coax. Any antinque computer guy should have it, but it's slow, I think 10M max.

Wait a couple of months. D-Link is working with the MoCA alliance to do a Home networking solution via RG6 Coax. It can even co-exist with your Cable TV (if you have it). The new HD signals eat into the spectrum which MoCA uses, so you cant use it with DirecTV coax.
The technology should be able to do really fast speeds over Coax with multiple devices/bridges. Right now the standard Verizon FiOS ONT/Router use MoCA to communicate.

I saw the products in action at CES at was quite impressed.

Thanks protrex, you rock!

Older network cards used coax. Different connectors (BNC I think?) though.
There was a 10Mbit max speed too.
I quick froogle for "pci nic coax" (nic = network interface card)
Came up with some results:

I actually used coax for my first home network back in the 90's. Its good for point to point real easy, but if you need more than two (compatible) devices hooked up, they all have to be connected "in series" on the same cable.
What I'm looking for is what Protrex described:
Ethernet 10/100 <-> to coax to <-> 10/100
VHF/UHF co-existance on the same piece of coax
Very low cost
I don't think you can run VHF/UHF on the same coax with ethernet.

You are very correct, Ethernet used to be only a COAX solution until the early 90's when 10-BaseT arrived, then there were transceivers designed to bridge the two. Some HP business class hubs still have this because of the need for older equipment compatibility.
It was 10Mb but only at half duplex, so accounting for collision protocol, the best you can get is 3.75 Mb and it had a maximum distance of 500 meters max per bus without repeaters. Those were the days.
btw, I am not that antique..:D
